@juli_bg_bs I haven't seen any "pure" covid pneumonia patients in our ICU since the beginning of the year. Now it's either with COVID or COVID is an aggravating factor in otherwith previously very unhealthy patients(obese, old etc) that also have another acute condition

Here is how Covid death looks like in 2022 👇👇👇 It is *NOT* due to Covid pneumonia. It is serious pre-existing condition and +Covid test. So when we cite "300 deaths/day" AND CFR of Sars-Cov-2...this number can't go down. Even with 609369 boosters🤨😬🙄
Dan Morgan@dr_dmorgan

Back on inpatient ID COVID-22 is DIFFERENT than COVID-19! COVID is everywhere. Fellow tested +, so i'm on my own! Almost all are hospitalization WITH COVID, not d/t COVID Man in 80s, severe heart failure, fluid overload and + test Man 70s met CA, chest pain, new lung met + test

@gadboit Reason why I refused the moderna shot my hospital offered me as a 3rd dose and went to a vaccination center to get a Pfizer

This is simply false. Even excluding any concerns around limitations of the study, this ISNT what the study said. At all. 🤦‍♂️

Alright update on Omicron since few people asked😇 Day 1: Feels like allergies, slight irritation in throat Day 2: Fever goes up to 100 on and off and it feels like flu Day 3: Chills at night and fever goes up to 101. Sucks! Day 4: Feel good. Residual common cold left 🤞🤞🤞

@juli_bg_bs @XelaPhila I got it only 10 days after everybody had it in my household. Took bromhexine, ambroxol, desloratadine and azelastine nose spraw though, who knows, it may have helped (got it only after I started reducing doses). Can't live taking all those meds daily either though 😂

@XelaPhila Once you see the actual spread, its like crazy. One gets it, in 48 hrs everyone in the house get it, and they give to friends etc. This is an *in household* spreading disease. Masks help only those who live alone.

@juli_bg_bs I'm really not convinced that the omicrons are intinsically milder than previous variants. CFR in Hongkong was same the as 1st wave in other places.

Thus far severity of BA.4/BA.5 looks similar to BA.1/BA.2 (milder than Delta) *despite* the difference in symptoms (NA.4/BA.5 more loss of taste/smell)🌈 PS. CFR will be low. Ain't Delta. And no one is naive. Worry level: 2/10 🤞
Nicolas Berrod@nicolasberrod

Tropistic shift of BA1 lineage from primary endosomal entry to BA4/5 TMPRSS2 dependency warrants the reapplication of Ambroxol/Bromhexine. If Nitazoxanide/ Niclosamide is unavailable low dose Fluvoxamine is a nice endosomal blocking substitute and FIASMA
Stuart Turville@StuartTurville

@Mike_Honey_ @EricTopol BA5 has switched tropism again to use TMPRSS2. It’s like a viral yo-yo. Here’s what Delta, BA1 and BA5 look like in cells with TMPRSS2 when exposed to positives samples and left for three days.

@dimlabim PS: your point is well taken: There was some glitch and the Danish Health authorities published a batch of 4 days today ... but cases are flat as well so it really seems a rumble underneath the surface

Meanwhile, in Denmark too, positivity rates seem to be longing for a little ascent

@gadboit I am against such lockdowns but I don't see for what reasons they wouldn't bring down infections.

I am concerned that covid might be causing the 1% to hoard all the wealth, buy up all the real estate, and use campaign donations to exert political influence on our government. There is research showing covid can affect the part of the brain responsible for empathy and fairness.

The 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster caused approx. 4000 deaths and started a vivid debate that never really stopped. A potential pandemic pathogen escaping from a lab can cause millions of deaths and we're not having a discussion about that?
