Macron gave a big speech today on the occasion of France's national day. He said: "Patriotism yes, Nationalism never" Nationalism is the position that a nation (a group sharing common cultural, linguistic and historical bonds) should be unified and form a sovereign nation-state wherever possible. Most European states existing today are either creations of, or strongly shaped by, the strong wave of nationalism which swept the continent during the 19th century.

@KnsPaige @Tablesalt13 Lol when Harper was in power we were Switzerland-rich. Now we're poorer than most of Europe apart from the PIGS and Balkans...

@Tablesalt13 We have seen what previous con gov have done to Canada and we don't want to see it again. After all, we see the destruction con premiers are doing right now to our health care, housing and education.

@Tablesalt13 Well, the average retiree makes more from pensions + OAS than the average worker makes from working. Why wouldn't the old people keep voting for this?

@commizrteanomie @MattBinder Wins the ball? He hit it with his arm and deflected it away... If he had scored odds are it's called back

@valigo Half of my town burned down 2 years ago while we were 500km away. Our entire block burned, our home included. Everything was saved because of the cloud, we lost everything we owned that was physical. That being said it's important to hedge your bets.

@Ekkaia4 @Footballtweet That if I come running into a defender midway trying to kick the ball, handle the ball with my arms and act like I've been shot I get a penalty? Yes, I'm aware that's a penalty in Spain, I'm just saying I hate it.

@AntBar1977 @Footballtweet Yeah in the end the pen doesn't matter. Also means I won't watch the final because watching Spain play is worse than watching paint dry.

@Ekkaia4 @Footballtweet No, I've watched enough of your league to hate it. Y'all give like 10 penalties per game. Stiff breeze knocks over an attacker, it's a penalty...

@Footballtweet Yamal played this cleverly. He never went for the ball, was looking for contact only. Always a penalty if the defender makes contact like this.

I honestly don't regret voting for Trudeau in 2015. - Weed legalization is a clear success. - NAFTA renegotiation dodged a bullet. - The SNC Lavalin affair was the right choice: his mistake was having a dumb Justice Minister. - Was never serious about PR.

@honorablesaint He should have just ripped a shot and not tried to dribble. Yeah, everyone expected the pass and Stones was obviously blocking it, so just rip a shot. Don't dribble into an even worse position.

This is why non-playing fans that don’t even understand the game are the worst part about sports. That pass was very difficult. There’s a reason every top player complimented Jon Stones positioning. When you never play the game, you don’t understand that Stones can easily read that pass. Sorloth was not going to fake it and push it forward into space to shoot with his right foot. He’s not quick enough. He would either have to play a more risky creative pass to Haaland to avoid being read easily, or do what he did. He just didn’t execute it well . The fact people are harping on him and trying to make him out to be the scapegoat is insane. It’s just psychopathic fans with no idea what they’re talking about.

I don't understand why the Swiss players are mad at the referee instead of Embolo Yes it's incredibly unlucky what happened (like VAR literally couldn't have intervened if the ref hadn't given a yellow originally... And he almost didn't give a single yellow to the Argentinian players tonight) but at the end of the day Switzerland is out because Embolo is a dumbass and ruined the momentum and domination the Swiss team had At 11 vs 11, my country wins this game, I'm sure of it So be mad at the dumbass player who did an insane dive while already being on a yellow. Not the ref

@rfleury Dunno I feel there's both more good software and more slop. I feel my current Linux setup is better than ever, certainly more functional than 20 years ago. All the web-slop is kind of tiring though, the software on my TV is shit, mobile apps very hit and miss

I do not understand defenders of status quo philosophies in software development. Even if you don’t think software quality has deteriorated at all in the past several decades (in some ways it hasn’t, but in numerous ways it objectively has), you have to lack all imagination or analytical abilities to consider modern software as the pinnacle of what could be produced. Software can be much better than it is. I’m not interested in your methodologies which have led to many decades of slop (both pre- and post-LLM). I’m not interested in producing status quo results, even if it’s faster than it used to be. I care about what I make.

@JerryTurin @Prominent_Bryan Red card offenses are different than yellow card offences. Also a second yellow offense is the same as a first yellow offense. Whether or not someone is on a yellow doesn't change how the offense is judged.
