@CaringThinkr @cmclymer Please move on. I'm not changing position. To do so would be a degradation of scripture. God reveals himself with masculine terms and pronouns. To refer to him feminine is to misgender him and a corruption of the Godhead. I'm bored with this

@dixontroy @cmclymer You think Hebrew grammar reveals divine nature. So take note of feminine words for divine nature: Spirit (Gen 1:2, Ez 37), Wisdom (Prov 1:20, 8, 9), Righteousness (Ps 36:6, Is 51:6,8), Faithfulness (Lam 3:23, Ps 89:1-2), Truth (Ex 34:6, Ps 25:5). 2/3

The debate over James Talarico calling God "nonbinary" is silly because it shouldn't be a debate. It is scripturally true. God is everything. God is everyone. God is every gender. Case closed. But we get into this ridiculous convo because conservatives find it Very Important to describe God as masculine. More importantly, they demand God be described as a man. Several years ago, I did a segment on MSNBC and referred to God with "she/her" pronouns. I wasn't being political with that. I really wasn't. That's just how I refer to God, and it is scripturally sound even if conservatives swear it isn't. So, this rightwing reporter reaches out to me on LinkedIn because he watched the segment, and he was quite upset with me for using she/her pronouns in reference to God. I asked him: "What is your scientific argument that God is male? Do we know anything about his anatomy?" He responds: "No, of course not. It's because God is referred to as 'he' and 'him' all throughout Scripture." And I said: "So, let me get this straight: you have no scientific evidence that God is male, no descriptions of God's anatomy that would support that claim, but because God identifies as male and uses he/him pronouns, you respect and honor that. What does that sound like to you?" And he started typing and then he stopped typing and then he blocked me. These folks are loons and we should call them loons and we should challenge them on Scripture and we shouldn't back down from that conversation. So, yeah, I think James Talarico is spot-on and I give thanks to God, in all Her wisdom, that She inspires him to speak the truth.

@langstonwertzjr I'd like to see him not start WWIII, respect the Constitution, lower gas & prices, etc, than worry about college football.

This would bring a lot of change to college athletics. For high school kids, giving college athletes 5 years to play 5, which I think is fair, will feel like COVID all over again.

@dixontroy @cmclymer In the Bible, God never says, I'm a he, I'm male. The writers using male pronouns is the natural convention in their cultures. You're overstating the case for some reason. And you selectively overlook several scriptures where there are feminine connections to the Godhead.

@WWUTTcom I have a froend who leans towards the Hebrews Roots movement and holds to the dietary laws. It's sad to see such ignorance.

It’s amazing that anyone who is a Christian gets triggered when you say that eating bacon is not a sin. “Thus He declared all foods clean” (Mark 7:19). “What God has cleansed, no longer consider defiled” (Acts 10:15).

I abhor reformed theology more than just about anything else on Earth. Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) is problematic because it can imply a division within the Trinity, portraying the Father as punishing the Son rather than acting in perfect unity of will and love. It frames forgiveness as dependent on satisfying divine wrath through violence instead of as a free act of mercy, and can suggest God is bound by an external standard above Himself of retributive justice. It also raises coherence issues, such as how Christ’s finite suffering could satisfy an eternal penalty, and moral concerns about punishing the innocent when guilt cannot be transferred. Biblically and historically, PSA is difficult find as well.

Either Christ bore your punishment, or you will. When Jesus hung on the cross, it wasn’t an example of just love only, it was substitution. He was wounded for transgressions that weren’t His. He was crushed for sins He never committed. That’s why the cross matters. If Jesus didn’t actually take the wrath you deserve for your sins, then that wrath still stands against you. God’s justice doesn’t disappear. Sin must be punished. The only question is, was it punished in Christ, or will it be punished in you?

@colinsmo @EWErickson It saddens me that @robertjeffress stood there smiling and @jackngraham endorsed her book. Integrity is a steep price to pay to be allowed in Trump’s orbit. I repeat that Amos and John the Baptist would blast this garbage.

PRESIDENT TRUMP PREACHES THE GOSPEL On Good Friday, the Son of God was nailed to the cross, crucified, and he died. For all of us, it was a day of darkness, but it wasn't the end. By any means, it was not the end. On Easter Sunday, the stone was rolled away and the grave was empty. Christians everywhere rejoiced, and we continue to rejoice. Easter is one of the incredible days. It was the miracle in all of history, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was one of the great... It was the great miracle, I guess, right? The great miracle. He told his followers, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Because of the events of Holy Week twenty centuries ago, people from every nation, language, and background can take on any difficulty, press through any trial, and endure any hardship. With Christ, not one thing can separate humanity from the powers of God's everlasting love.
