Wildlife expert @ChrisGPackham says the PMs assertion that we are "on track" to meet our net zero target by 2050 is "a lie". "We are not in line to meet any of these targets," he adds. trib.al/3PyZINZ 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube

This is a good thread. Not long ago - around the time Nick Griffin appeared on Question Time, for example - views and associations like Farage's would have been viewed as much more toxic than they are in Brexit Britain. (Obviously, this isn't a coincidence...)

Away from the right to banking/Coutts’PR mess-up, in purely corporate reputation terms Nigel Farage not just a Telegraph-friendly Brexiter: he’s strongly pro-Trump, has been repeatedly condemned for using antisemitic tropes, and has been pally with far-right conspiracists.

Sunak will use a trip to Scotland to confirm 100 gas & oil licences It takes 5 yrs from a find until oil & gas is produced from a field It takes 6 mnths to build onshore wind farms & the energy is up to 11 times cheaper than oil & gas The solutions are there, the will isn’t.

BREAKING: we just fully took over a fundraiser for Joe Biden's reelection campaign. The billionaires bolted. The President just approved a 2,000,000,000 cubic-foot-per-day fracked gas pipeline in the midst of a climate emergency. This was not a compromise. This was a crime.

Powerful words from @UofGSHW colleague @DrJasonLang 🙏 Please let's enable everyone to be the person that they are, free from the fear of being judged or criticised. Masking or hiding is painful & exhausting 😢 #Neurodiversity #InvisibleDisabilities
Dr Jason Lang@DrJasonLang

Shocking how we train children to mask from a young age. I’ve had these comments my whole life. “Cheer up.’ ‘A smile wouldn’t hurt.” And so on. I have a flat affect. I like it. So deal with it! #Neurodiversity #ActuallyAutistic

Why should Thomas have to waste his time removing Neil and Dan’s turds of misinformation from the living room carpet of @ofcom regulated television?
Tomasz Schafernaker@Schafernaker

This absolutely not true. The temperature being reported is AIR temperature above ground (over 1 metre+), not the GROUND temperature. Ground temperature will have been even higher in many of those locations, well in excess of 50°.

Let's talk about climate change and how it may effect the UK. Let's start with some basic geography. London is pretty far north. In fact, it's on the same latitude as Kyiv, Warsaw, & Winnipeg. Edinburgh shares its latitude with Moscow. /1 belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/rising…

These are not thinking people; they are cyphers spouting the weekly line, just as they always have. This week, this message: Tice, Ridley, Frost etc all parroting it - Telegraph, Spectator, GBnews, Express - wherever will take it. Now: the Lords. Paid living bots. Embarrassing.
Farrukh@implausibleblog

David Frost, "Rising temperatures (from climate change) are likely to be beneficial.. We can adjust to the perfectly manageable consequences of slowly rising temperatures." Frost also says the cost to mitigate climate change is 1-2% of GDP. Brexit now costs the UK 5.5% of GDP. So if we rejoin the EU, we can spend that extra on helping save the planet. Win-win.

For decades the Daily Mail & most media has played down the climate crisis - lied about the scale of disagreement amongst scientists, underplayed the urgency and overplayed the difficulties of getting off this suicidal path. Now we are here. I hate them with a passion #rhodesfire

Two front page headlines today. This says all you need to know about Govt’s total disconnection from climate reality. Green pledges don’t need watering down, but ramping up in speed & scale, investing in a liveable future & taking everyone along with us. He’s failing miserably.
