@ErinSandersNP Ask your pediatrician’s office. Ours does the PCR in the building and we’ve sometimes gotten results in a couple of hours. No waiting, beyond getting a sick-kid appointment, and immediate notification.

Oz is sick again. When I tell you we don't go anywhere, and we all continue to wear masks...what has changed? Loosening public health interventions, including at his daycare. I go to schedule his COVID test & the MA Revere express testing site has now closed. But it's so not over

@michelebusby I like the Berkshires. Lots of kid-friendly stuff (swimming, hiking, amusement parks) plus world-class music, theater, dance. Big name places may book early but you can usually find decent last-minute rooms online or via visitor centers.

When I took my oath of office today, I used a 500-yr-old, 13-pg book from @libraryofcongress that speaks to us today about social justice, inclusion, refugees, science & tech, and public service. Read my essay on why I chose this book: whitehouse.gov/ostp/news-upda…

Definitely not missing the irony of listening to an NPR piece on how vaccine access is still inequitable while multiple people on multiple devices attempt to schedule one household member for vaccination.

Big accomplishment today: after 2 hours, 2 people, and 5 devices, my husband finally succeeded in booking an appointment for the vaccine. Let's throw a big party to celebrate! Oh, wait...

@statesdj Many colleges are finishing their semesters about now. I've no data to back this up, but I'd bet a lot of that travel is students heading home until February. No good options when dorms close, so it's a tough call either way.

People need to realize that within family and within household spread is the major current source of spread. This is not the year to go see the relatives

JUST IN: @TSA officers screened 1,066,747 people at airport checkpoints nationwide yesterday, Friday, Dec. 18. The last time that throughput surpassed 1 million was the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Please continue to wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines.

@statesdj I'm cracking up but it's not really funny. I guess in these days we have to look at the light side. Maybe we could put one of those $150 UV "air purifiers" in the middle to complete the picture?

Sad, but not surprising. Another example of bad data science driven by using the wrong tool for the job. If your software is limiting your analysis in any way, it's time to use something else.

In the UK the number of cases rose rapidly. But the public – and authorities – are only learning this now because these cases were only published now as a backlog. The reason was apparently that the database is managed in Excel and the number of columns had reached the maximum.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought to the end, through her cancer, with unwavering faith in our democracy and its ideals. That’s how we remember her. But she also left instructions for how she wanted her legacy to be honored. My statement: obama.medium.com/my-statement-o…

Staring at an epic new user interface in clinic this morning and wondering: What other industries redo their product every few years, never seemingly improve (though sometimes make it worse), and yet are still used by everyone?

@zakkohane @Tesla Then how will they get people to use autopilot, which in a recent model 3 upgrade would recognize and stop at many (but not all) stop signs? The need for data to improve the cars' software may be at odds with insurance incentives...

What if your insurance company would change your premium on a monthly basis in response to your actions on MODIFIABLE risk? @Tesla insurance bit.ly/34bb7Px is doing just that. Game theoretic assistant? “Sir, if U accelerate now 20% risk of premium incr."

@drgitlin You have a point, but given that I've had to have a few zoom meetings from my parked car, I could see a use for this. It's ok if it doesn't work while the car is moving. We can't just bop into a coffee shop for an hour to connect anymore.
