A new exhibition in Berlin is offering rare insight into Syria’s infamous Sednaya prison through 3D reconstructions, survivor testimonies and virtual reality experiences. 'Sednaya: Syria’s Architecture of Repression and Death' explores how prison architecture itself became a tool of surveillance, torture and execution under the Assad regime, while preserving the memories of detainees, the disappeared and survivors through letters, photographs and personal archives:

British-owned beef giant CPC has been granted a permit to poison and kill 20,000 native galahs and little corellas at one of their vast cattle stations in the NT, Australia. In its permit application, CPC admits its practices created the problem: “grain production, on-site storage, and cattle feeding have provided an artificial food source.” Ornithologist Dr Lilleyman was "shocked" to learn of the NT government's decision to grant the permit. She said that Birdlife Australia is concerned about the potential for secondary poisoning of non-target species occurring close to "an internationally significant wetland". CPC has ten cattle stations on about 9 million acres. They supply cattle and beef to Asian markets, domestic feedlots and processors, and export live cattle. The company is owned by Guy and Julia Hands through the Hands Family Office. They live in Guernsey after leaving England to avoid UK tax. CPC has also applied for massive water licenses for irrigation projects to grow grain sorghum and other crops which will inevitably attract even more birds. So what happens then? Even wider-scale poisoning of native wildlife?

Off the coast of Portugal, a diver was working on underwater repairs when he noticed an octopus hovering nearby. At first, he didn’t think much of it — until the octopus started helping. Each time the diver reached for a wrench, a bolt, or accidentally dropped a tool, one of the octopus’s tentacles would glide over, gently passing it back to him. It was as if he had a silent assistant from the deep. When he returned to the surface and told his coworkers, no one believed him. So the next time, he brought cameras. The footage showed exactly what he’d described — an octopus calmly handing tools to a human, working alongside him in perfect rhythm. The video quickly went viral, capturing hearts around the world. And when asked about it later, the diver just smiled and said, “I’m just happy I had help down there.” Moments like this remind us that intelligence doesn’t belong to humans alone. In the quiet depths of the ocean — and all across the natural world — other minds are watching, learning, and sometimes, lending a helping hand.

Marineland : le ministre plie devant le fonds d’investissement Le Ministre Mathieu Lefèvre annoncera demain qu’il autorise le transfert des orques Wikie et Keijo. Il se fera le relais du discours du Marineland sur l’état des bassins sans qu’aucune expertise indépendante n’ait été faite pour justifier de l’urgence. Le ministre envisage également d’autoriser le transfert des dauphins dans des delphinariums espagnols plus petits et plus vétustes. Et pourtant pour les dauphins, aucun « problème de bassin » ne peut être évoqué. Alors qu’en est-il vraiment ? La vérité est que Parques Reunidos, le groupe propriétaire du Marineland veut à tous prix et au plus vite récupérer les terrains pour lancer d’autres projets. Les 12 dauphins, les deux orques et l’équipe de soigneurs sont donc devenus très encombrants. Parques Reunidos attaque l’État français pour obtenir des dommages et intérêts et le ministre plie sous la pression. Mais il évoque la sécurité des animaux.
