I deleted an early post about this because Grok informed me that Maeve’s side won the debate. My fault for not checking further. Now Maeve’s mum (@lucymirandaward ) has given the actual figures (38 ayes, (Maeve’s side), 70 noes, 52 abstentions). So I’ll repeat it. That a speech this good - beautifully delivered, eloquent, coherent, full of passion, backed up with facts - lost the debate indicates just how committed (and I mean committed, not captured) universities are to gender ideology. And in that context it takes real bravery to stand up and tell them just how wrong they are. 70 people listening to this speech (and the other speakers on Maeve’s side) and voting against it is crazy. Hopefully, the abstentions hold out some hope. But because the ideology is so strongly held by university staff turning it around is going to be difficult.

Nous avons donné au monde Descartes, Pascal, Tocqueville. Et puis, dans les ruines intellectuelles de l'après-68, nous avons donné Foucault, Derrida, Deleuze. Trois hommes brillants qui ont fabriqué, dans l'élégance de notre langue, l'arme idéologique qui paralyse aujourd'hui l'Occident. Il faut comprendre ce qu'ils ont fait. Foucault a enseigné que la vérité n'existe pas, qu'il n'y a que des rapports de pouvoir déguisés en savoir. Que la science, la raison, la justice, l'institution médicale, l'école, la prison, la sexualité, tout n'est qu'une mise en scène de la domination. Derrida a enseigné que les textes n'ont pas de sens stable, que tout signifiant glisse, que toute lecture est une trahison, que l'auteur est mort et que le lecteur règne. Deleuze a enseigné qu'il fallait préférer le rhizome à l'arbre, le nomade au sédentaire, le désir à la loi, le devenir à l'être, la différence à l'identité. Pris isolément, ce sont des thèses discutables. Combinées, exportées, vulgarisées, elles forment un système. Et ce système est un poison. Car voici ce qui s'est passé. Ces textes, illisibles en France, ont traversé l'Atlantique. Les départements de Yale, de Berkeley, de Columbia les ont absorbés dans les années 80. Ils y ont trouvé un terreau qui n'existait pas chez nous : le puritanisme américain, sa culpabilité raciale, son obsession identitaire. La French Theory s'est mariée à ce substrat, et l'enfant de ce mariage s'appelle le wokisme. Judith Butler lit Foucault et invente le genre performatif. Edward Said lit Foucault et invente le post-colonialisme académique. Kimberlé Crenshaw hérite du cadre et invente l'intersectionnalité. À chaque étape, la matrice est française : il n'y a pas de vérité, il n'y a que du pouvoir, donc toute hiérarchie est suspecte, toute institution est oppressive, toute norme est violence, toute identité est construite donc négociable, toute majorité est coupable. Voilà comment trois philosophes parisiens, qui n'ont probablement jamais imaginé leurs conséquences pratiques, ont fourni le logiciel d'exploitation à une génération entière d'activistes, de bureaucrates universitaires, de DRH, de journalistes, de législateurs. Voilà comment on a obtenu une civilisation qui ne sait plus dire si une femme est une femme, si sa propre histoire mérite d'être défendue, si le mérite existe, si la vérité se distingue de l'opinion. C'est de la merde pour une raison simple, et il faut la dire calmement. Une civilisation se tient debout sur trois piliers : la croyance qu'il existe une vérité accessible à la raison, la croyance qu'il existe un bien distinct du mal, la croyance qu'il existe un héritage à transmettre. La French Theory a entrepris de dynamiter les trois. Pas par méchanceté. Par jeu intellectuel, par fascination du soupçon, par haine de la bourgeoisie qui les avait nourris. Mais le résultat est là. Une génération entière a appris à déconstruire et n'a jamais appris à construire. Une génération entière sait soupçonner et ne sait plus admirer. Une génération entière voit le pouvoir partout et la beauté nulle part. Je m'excuse parce que nous, Français, avons une responsabilité particulière. C'est notre langue, nos universités, nos éditeurs, notre prestige qui ont donné à ce nihilisme son emballage chic. Sans la légitimité de la Sorbonne et de Vincennes, ces idées n'auraient jamais traversé l'océan. Nous avons exporté le doute comme d'autres exportent des armes. Ce qui se construit maintenant, en silicon valley, dans les labos d'IA, dans les startups, dans les ateliers, dans tous les lieux où des gens fabriquent encore des choses au lieu de les déconstruire, c'est la réponse. Une civilisation se reconstruit par les bâtisseurs, pas par les commentateurs. Par ceux qui croient que la vérité existe et qu'elle vaut qu'on s'y consacre. Par ceux qui assument une hiérarchie du beau, du vrai, du bon, et qui n'ont pas honte de la transmettre. Alors pardon. Et au travail.

It’s an active intervention that can lock children into a path of persistence, PBs, cross-sex hormones, & lifelong medical interventions. Most gender dysphoric children will desist naturally before affirmation become policy. @SeanKyneGalway needs to update his knowledge in this area. A recent Finnish study (Ruuska/Kalyiala et al.) used nationwide health registries with near-complete data and no loss to follow up, long term tracking, & matched controls. They found: Higher psychiatric needs than controls before referrals. This worsened or persisted after referral/treatment. Among those who got medical gender reassignment surgery, psychiatric needs increased markedly from 10% to 61%. There was no evidence of the expected mental health improvements. Cormorbidities often intensified. We need to tread very carefully where the health and future lives of children and young people are at stake. We depend on policy makers to be fully informed and not driven by ideology.

On a saboté ceux qu'on voulait aider. — L'aide humanitaire qui distribue du riz gratuit pendant 30 ans en Afrique : effondrement des filières agricoles locales, dépendance institutionnalisée. Donner un poisson, c'est empêcher d'apprendre à pêcher. Le wokisme ne détruit pas l'humanité dans le sens dramatique. Il fait pire : il dessert systématiquement ceux qu'il prétend protéger, et il génère du ressentiment des deux côtés — ceux qu'on infantilise et ceux qu'on culpabilise. La fraternité républicaine dit : tu es mon égal, donc je te traite en adulte capable. Le wokisme dit : tu es ma victime, donc je dois te protéger de toi-même. L'un élève. L'autre infantilise. Ce n'est pas la même chose, et confondre les deux est exactement le tour de passe-passe qu'on dénonce.

The President of Ireland Catherine Connolly has become Patron of controversial trans charity BeLongTo. @PresidentIRL Belongto actively campaigns on Trans and gender identity legislation, pushes gender ideology into schools acrosss Ireland and campaigns for "gender affirming" heatlhcare. Catherine Connolly ran her presidential campaign promising to be a "President for All". That's looking extremely unlikely now.

This is the new Wellbeing Curriculum for primary school children. It is being rolled out between now and 2030. On page 8 they claim they are providing "accurate...information" about sexuality, yet on page 24 they tell children that sexual orientation is "attraction to someone of a different GENDER, the same GENDER or more than one GENDER". This is gender ideology, not education. There is nothing accurate about lying to children. @Education_Ire you ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

The Full Federal Court has handed down its judgement in Giggle v Tickle. In a shock to women across the country - Sall Grover not only lost her appeal, the Court set aside the original finding of indirect discrimination and replaced it with direct discrimination, upholding Tickle's cross-appeal. The damages were doubled from $10,000 to $20,000. It’s important to note the Court expressly said it was only applying the Sex Discrimination Act as it is written- it is "not empowered to give effect to its own view" about whether that law is desirable. In 2013, @JuliaGillard’s @AustralianLabor government amended the Sex Discrimination Act- stripping the meaning out of "man" and "woman" and adding gender identity as a protected attribute to be pitted against biological sex. Today's outcome is proof of what those amendments have done: women are left with no meaningful rights or recognition under the Sex Discrimination Act - a bitter irony, given that protecting women was the very purpose of the Act under our commitment to CEDAW. In my opinion, this is a verdict on the law, not on Sall. The judges found that the law - as that government amended it - left them no other conclusion. These amendments must be repealed. The Sex Discrimination Act must once again recognise biological reality and protect women's right to single-sex spaces. All of the ponds may include biological males and biological females -there is no actual discrimination against women as they are (theoretically) equally free to ‘identify’ as they wish- but the decision holds biology is not the primary consideration and are hoping new privacy arrangements will bring it within the Supreme Court ruling

This judgment should send shockwaves through NHS and beyond. It is to my knowledge the 1st to decide that allowing trans identifying men into women's workplace facilities is in itself discrimination and harassment against women.

This is not just about one school in Dublin. The Department of Education and Youth @Education_Ire is fully aware that there is a problem with removing single sex provision in schools. In 2021, it was discovered that the DEY was going to make mixed-sex toilets MANDATORY in all new school builds. There was massive public outcry and the DEY the stated that mixed-sex toilets were NOT mandatory and that any decision to remove single-sex provision would be wholly up to the school’s own management. The plans for Harold’s Cross Educate Together Secondary School, submitted that same year, AFTER the public furore showed perfectly normal single-sex toilets with doorways for privacy. In 2023, the school mentioned in the article below tried to pull the same stunt as HCETSS is doing now. Again, there was a massive public outcry, lots of media attention, and single sex provision was restored. This has happened in other schools too. But no one in school management or in the DEY can possibly be unaware that mixed-sex toilets are considered by the vast majority of people in this country to be wholly inappropriate in schools. And yet, they continue to try to force this upon students and parents. Why?
