@ChrisSpoke This is what Tesla, XPENG, etc are doing with world generation to improve self-driving. Using synthetic data and self-correcting feedback (vs real video feeds and human feedback). There's real limitations to it but it definitely gets better as AI becomes more accurate

“This is a big deal. I don’t know how to wrap my head around it. It’s a reluctant view because the implications are so large that I feel dwarfed by them, and I’m not sure society is ready for the kinds of changes implied by achieving automated AI R&D.”
Jack Clark@jackclarkSF

I've spent the past few weeks reading 100s of public data sources about AI development. I now believe that recursive self-improvement has a 60% chance of happening by the end of 2028. In other words, AI systems might soon be capable of building themselves.

@TrentTelenko I work in the call space and I doubt this will have an impact on outbound scam calls, they barely do enough to crack down on shady VOIP carriers already. Much like gun control this will largely just burden large retail brands and push them to use AI voice agents

@pashmerepat It's a pretty good way to rediscover songs. The AI DJ is basically a glorified FB memories type feature, lots of opportunity there. Spotify seems to take things slowly

Spotify's "Mix" feature is cool, though would be nice if it did harmonic mixing / ordered songs in a better way

SpaceXAI and @cursor_ai are now working closely together to create the world’s best coding and knowledge work AI. The combination of Cursor’s leading product and distribution to expert software engineers with SpaceX’s million H100 equivalent Colossus training supercomputer will allow us to build the world’s most useful models. Cursor has also given SpaceX the right to acquire Cursor later this year for $60 billion or pay $10 billion for our work together.

@Microbedoc2 @SJTM33 @Polymarket Otherwise America has the best hospitals, best doctors, best equipment, cutting edge pharma (FDA is pretty bad though), and an extremely well funded public healthcare system for the poor (mediaid)

@Microbedoc2 @SJTM33 @Polymarket Mostly because the a) regulatory framework around insurance is a complete mess, a single payer insurance system (though not public hospitals) would be better and b) americans are really fat and sedentary, especially in minority populations and women (75% are overweight)

@ianbremmer Global defense spending is becoming a leading indicator of systemic instability. States are no longer preparing for isolated conflicts, but for the emerging era of Conditional Power Order.

$2t → $2.7t in 6 years. and that's before the iran war, before europe's (and asia's) defense spending push, before the $90b ukraine loan. the chart from 2026 is going to look even steeper.

I think there is more utility in the automotive parts supply chain further diversifying/expanding into the defense supply chain. Ford & GM assembly plants aren't realistically going to be repurposed into munitions factories, as John notes.
John Ridge@WeaponScientist

I am not really sure what Ford or other automakers could realistically bring to the table tbh The manufacturing model for most modern munitions is the antithesis of the manufacturing model for automobiles.

@rfloreslv @adamtaggart If I was betting on polymarket I'd guess Iran does a modest nuclear deal and opens the strait within the next month they already offered 5yrs non-nuclear, Trump demanded 20yrs, US negotiators will likely settle on 10yrs or something

@dmix @adamtaggart I understand that but that doesn’t change why this can’t continue for several months. When the people suffer, they will blame the US and Israel. I hope it gets resolved but they are not rational actors

4 charts that show why time is working against the Iranian regime 1. Iran is 100% reliant on the Strait of Hormuz for its oil exports (which make up 80%+ of its total national income) 2. SOH traffic has almost completely stopped (and now US is implementing a blockade) 3. Inflation is Iran is horrible & worsening as the war continues 4. A decade+ water crisis is getting even worse as infrastructure fails/gets destroyed The longer 3 & 4 persist, the higher the odds of more populace uprisings. If 1 & 2 don't improve soon, 3 & 4 will get even worse.

@rfloreslv @adamtaggart They are still a functional government with a population dependent on huge social services. Gov needs to pay bills. They were in dire economic condition before the war, with prices fluctuating so much that small businesses shut down because they couldn't determine what to charge

@dmix @adamtaggart They are much more powerful. The regime will take care of its own and the people with guns. The most vulnerable will suffer the most. There’s no reason this can’t go on another year. It’s not a prediction but a possibility

A blockade collapses the blue bars below to zero. This collapses Iran's business model, which means there's no money for imports and the red bars go to zero. Iran is a gas station masquerading as an Islamic Republic. Time to shut down the gas station... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/how-much-doe…
