@predyx_markets This was a holdover from the previous tier 1 league, NASL. All draws were decided in a "running shootout" starting in 1977, that started at the 35 yard line, which also was where offside began, rather than the center line (MLS did not adopt that)

@Tx9Mx @Luke313131 BBC's 3D replay is glitchy, and all this shows is a glitch that doesn't even match what people are claiming.

Sorry Switzerland...yes, the only reason it went to review was the ref blew the initial call. But that was the worst dive by a player already on a yellow. Live? Probably let it go, but in review no choice.

@nepselaksen @NotAliGrey That 3D "data" is glitchy as hell. Plenty of those can be seen and the ball was not hitting anything on the others either. In one case, the ball "vanished".

@MadridPreeti FIFA adopted additional protocols over the current IFAB rules. One was about "Mistaken identity", allowing them to book an opposing player, without it being for the same offense...was used in previous games.

🚨 MASSIVE SCANDAL According to FIFA's own guidelines, The Ref was only authorised to reverse his decision of giving a Yellow Card to Parades The Guidelines clearly forbid the Ref, to not cover an opposing player indirectly being booked when someone has dived. SHAME 😤

@MiikaArponen This is based on calculated data from several receivers and is not accurate. Plenty of examples, especially on long and high kicks, where it glitches. Looks like a data correction. There is another example where the ball disappears.

Take a look at this clip from BBC's 3D replay of the game and the goal kick just before England's goal. I don't know where the data comes for this, but this clearly shows a bump in the otherwise smooth trajectory of the ball right where the spidercam would be. #worldcup #engnor #mmfutis

@GoodingTuba @MiikaArponen Likely bad geometry synchronization from different trackers, and you are seeing the transition of the calculated location being "corrected".

@MiikaArponen I think the tech is just unreliable when the ball’s that high. Only took me a few minutes to find the same thing happen in the Argentina game.

I most definitely don't want Argentina to win, but that was 100% classic simulation. He even jerked his head back as if he was struck.

@TeleFootball Perfect diagram of the trajectory of a ball encountering air resistance and with spin. No one on the field reacted until the goal was scored.

Nobody can explain why Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan was shown a yellow card after making FIFA's official "No to Racism" gesture by crossing his arms in an X shape. What's the point of having an anti-racism gesture if you're just going to book people for using it?

@GorkaPintado18 @StylesKdot It doesn't matter if there are 20 angles that are inconclusive if there is one angle that is. They only need to show the one angle that is conclusive.

@l3d1c @Goran_Majic Touching the ball is irrelevant as to whether a foul was committed or not. No need to show the data when a foul was clearly committed.

Norway touches the ball: no VAR, no chip/snickometer, penalty for Brazil. 😂 Matanović touches it with a strand of hair: full FIFA damage control unit deployed, goal overturned. The technology works exactly when they need it to. Absolute disgrace once again! FIFA, MAFIA!

@tyhildenbrandt I don't recall for past WCs, but in most other competitions this is done. WC seems to have special rules about straight RCs.

@DiceElDani The rule DOES exist and was published last year (may have existed before, but WC is under 2025/2026 rules), but is rarely used. Ronaldo also benefited from this rule where he would have missed at least a couple of the group stage matches for a previous red card.

FIFA's own rulebook: there is NO mechanism to appeal a red card at the World Cup. Also FIFA, 4 days later: the host nation's star striker's ban is "suspended," he'll play the Round of 16. A rule that doesn't exist for everyone else appears out of thin air for the USA. If red cards can vanish for the right team, they mean nothing.
