Just back from Curracloe after seeing the cyclists off. Best of luck to all involved and a really fitting tribute to Nicholas RTE news : Wexford to Scotland cycle to honour former RTÉ journalist rte.ie/news/regional/…

@philipnolan1 I can’t begin to imagine what a different life you have lived these last 12 months. Your strength and perseverance is inspiring though. Hope you continue to improve.

Tomorrow is the anniversary, but it was just before 11, Rome time, on Friday - today - that I had a massive stroke. Life never was, or will be, the same again, but adapting to change has brought as much reward as challenge. What a year it’s been! mol.im/a/15527637

@snufflewort So when are you coming for a visit? Have you tracked down any relatives? We’re pretty much a big family over here anyway

@urbanponds101 I sat opposite this guy for about 15 minutes in our garden 2 weeks ago before he flew off just looking at each other. Photo taken on phone. No zoom used

@charlotteukcity There’s a women’s shed in our area too. Lots of crafting, days out, information talks and mostly friendship and connection which is the point of it all

1/2 Local to my mum’s house, there is a ‘Men In Sheds’. This is a group of senior men who support each other, share & learn new skills. Well one of the men made a beautiful standing bird table, it took him ages to perfect. He put it outside for sale & my mum walked past &

I know I keep asking for retweets and it's probably annoying as hell but finances have been very tough for me in the last year due to being too unwell to work for much of it. If you could repost my tweet above about my ko-fi & my etsy shop I'd appreciate it so so much - it will put both of them in front of more eyes. Thankyou xx🌿

When Frankie signs up to be a nurse in Vietnam during the war, she has no idea how her world is about to implode. A stunning exploration of the horrors of war, PTSD and the way society marginalises the roles women play, this left me in a puddle of tears #BookTwitter

Big Mike’s – A Closing Note Sunday was our last service at Big Mike’s This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. It feels like failure, but it isn’t. We’re proud of what we achieved, we shot for the stars, poured everything into it — heart, soul, sweat, tears, life savings, even the house deposit — but the brutal truth is the maths just don’t math anymore. The industry is facing unsurmountable challenges. We gave it our very best I’m proud of my team, grateful to our guests, suppliers and FWBs all of whom have been incredibly understanding. My final act as gaffer is to go to bat for my staff so they land safely in new homes and ensure they are fully supported. Many of them have been with me a long time and I’m determined to assist them moving forward. I’ve written a full note with all the details — regarding vouchers, reservations, a heartfelt thanks and what’s next…… You can read it here bigmikes.ie

I went to Rome on a Wednesday morning n April, to cover Pope Francis’s funeral on the Saturday and be home Sunday. Instead, I had a stroke on the Friday. I couldn’t do anything. Three months later, I finally slept in my own bed, albeit temporarily. It felt, well, miraculous.
