@cdrsalamander Does it make any difference what they say? Trump says a lot of things just to manipulate markets. Israeli goal is to smash the country into poverty.

I have seen no American official state that one of the original goals was 'overthrowing the Iranian regime'. If you have, provide a "Ref. A:" with the specific person. What we do have from earlier this month is General Caine's statement that there were three goals. 1. Destroy missiles/drones 2. Destroy navy 3. Destroy military and industrial base
Evan Hill@evanhill

US officials tell The Post they no longer believe it is possible to achieve the war's original goals of overthrowing the Iranian regime and putting its nuclear program permanently out of reach

It’s important to note that when Joe Kent was selected to become the head of the National Counterterrorism Center, it was already well known that he was a Groyper. It was already known for example that he has the word “PANZER” (German for “armor” or “tank,” strongly associated with Nazi Germany’s Panzer tanks and armored divisions in World War II) tattooed down his left arm and had expressed his love for what Nick Fuentes was doing. The scandal isn’t just what Joe did with his government role but why on earth such a dangerous and horrendous selection of him was ever made.

90% of the triple-deckers in Massachusetts were built before 1935. These homes once helped build the state’s middle class. They didn’t disappear because demand did... we made them illegal to build everywhere.

On March 20, 2026, a U.S. District Court judge vacated key security provisions of the Pentagon's October 2025 media access policy. The court removed every provision that allowed the Department to screen press credential holders for security risks and every provision that allowed the Department to deny, revoke, or suspend a press credential based on security considerations — while simultaneously ordering the Department to immediately reinstate press credentials for the New York Times. The Department always complies with court orders but disagrees with the decision and is pursuing an appeal. In the interim, and in compliance with the court's order, I have signed the revised "Pentagon Reservation In-Brief for Media Members," effective immediately. Here is what the revised policy does: Closure of Correspondents' Corridor. In assessing the Department's security posture following the court's removal of all security screening authority, the Department determined that unescorted access to the Pentagon cannot be responsibly maintained without the ability to screen credential holders for security risks. Effective immediately, the Correspondents' Corridor is closed. A new and improved press workspace will be established in an annex facility outside the Pentagon, but still on Pentagon grounds, and will be available when ready. Escorted Access Only. All journalist access to the Pentagon will require escort by authorized Department personnel. Credential holders will continue to have access to the Pentagon for scheduled press briefings, press conferences, and interviews arranged through public affairs offices. The Department remains committed to transparency and to working with credentialed journalists who cover the Department and the U.S. military. The Department is equally committed to the security of the Pentagon and the protection of the men and women who work there. The revised policy reflects both commitments.

As a father with young kids and someone who has seen the worst of war and its lasting effects, it pains me to say that I believe we must bring back the military draft… As I say in the piece, “Over the past two decades, something has gone badly wrong with how our country decides to use military force. Presidents have sent troops into harm’s way with thin congressional support, thinner public debate, and no endgame or strategy in sight….” (And) “As someone who believes there are likely compelling cases for confronting Iran or acting in Venezuela, I want those arguments put before the American public, debated in Congress, and treated with a seriousness that requires a clear strategy and a frank case for why American lives are worth the risk.” nydailynews.com/2026/03/23/rev…

Let me explain what just happened 👇 5 minutes before the President announced a halt to attacks on Iran… someone placed a $1.5 BILLION bet on stocks going up and dumped $192 million in oil. 5 minutes… These trades were 4 to 6 times larger than anything else in the entire market. Whoever did this wasn’t guessing. You don’t risk $1.5 billion on a hunch. There was zero public indication this announcement was coming. No leaks. No press. Nothing. The only people who knew were in the room when the decision was made. Someone in that room picked up a phone. And within minutes they made more money than most Americans will earn in a thousand lifetimes. In a single trade. On a war that cost you $4+ a gallon gas and $16 billion in tax dollars. American citizens funded this war. Politicians are profiting from it. This is not the first time. Every major announcement from this administration has had massive suspicious trades right before it dropped. Tariff reversals. Policy shifts. War decisions. This is the most blatant insider trading operation in the history of American politics. It’s not even close. And it’s happening over and over in broad daylight. You would go to federal prison for trading on a tip from your cousin. These people are front running war decisions with billion dollar bets and nobody will ever ask a single question. Nobody will be investigated. Nobody will be charged. By tomorrow this will be buried under the next satisfying headline. Just like last time. And the time before that. The game is rigged. And they’re not even trying to hide it anymore…

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

@MNa409 @JarFayyis18 @MaxAbrahms No it doesn't. There's a lot of German used in the US Army, because until recently, everyone who was a career soldier spent a few years in Germany. Panzer is a neutral term, not a Nazi term. The Bundeswehr still calls their tanks panzers.

Is the president implying something by mentioning @joekent16jan19 “remarried fairly quickly.” For the record: CTICS Shannon Kent was killed in Jan. 2019. Mr. Kent married Heather Kaiser, a West Point graduate and Army intelligence officer, in August 2023.
CSPAN@cspan

Q: "Did you know whether Joe Kent was leaking?" President Trump: "I'm not a fan of the guy…His wife was killed. He remarried fairly quickly…He ran for Congress, he lost..…They gave him a job in the White House and this is what he does to me."

@dohertytjp @Republicanvet91 @infantrydort Iran's proxy strategy was so misunderstood. They were directly in the firing line and the US was set up in Iraq and Afghanistan and across bases north and south from them! Iran had to make the cost of staging an invasion difficult for the US and they did a good job at it.

@TradNorm @Republicanvet91 @infantrydort At any point we probably could have made a deal with Iran and stopped the attacks. Trump could have made a deal while US Special Operations Forces and All Quds Force were fighting ISIS together. But serving Netanyahu was more important.

"A professional soldier understands that war means killing people, war means maiming people, war means families left without fathers and mothers. All you have to do is hold your first dying soldier in your arms, and have that terribly futile feeling that his life is flowing out and you can't do anything about it. Then you understand the horror of war. Any soldier worth his salt should be antiwar. And still there are things worth fighting for." -General H. Norman Schwarzkopf Jr.

@Republicanvet91 @infantrydort If you keep threatening people, don't be surprised if they fight back. Again, it was nothing personal on the Iranians' part. They killed us to degrade our mission in Iraq and make life hard for us there. Otherwise, we might have attacked them next. And we ended up doing it.

@Republicanvet91 @infantrydort I mentioned that we helped Saddam kill Iranians with poison gas in the 1980s. I was rocketed by Iranian backed militias several times. People I knew were killed. Nothing personal. The message was "Iran is next after Iraq." What did you expect the Iranians to do to us in Iraq?

I still have a draft of the spreadsheet we ended up giving to James Baker's Iraq Jubilee task force in 2004. Note the chemical companies. Some of that was to make mustard and nerve gas to use on Iranians and Iraqi Kurds (Halabja) in the 1980s.

My first job in Iraq was cataloging all of the debt incurred to western countries incl US for weapons and other war material to kill Iranians from 82 on. Iran offered a peace deal after 9/11, helped at the beginning of Afghanistan but got the big FU in the "Axis of Evil" speech.
