A fair few people on the thread re: 90's movies/'four channel' culture have mentioned the director Alex Cox/BBC2 Moviedrome?
Huge, long time fan.
I had the pleasure of interviewing him - many moons ago - for Vice.
May be of interest to some:

@dwaldenwrites Postman was so prescient. I'm reading "Technopoly" right now.

Lol virtually nobody has been vindicated as much as Neil Postman other than perhaps Andrea Dworkin and Jesus

When I was a kid, people said television was eroding society and corrupting the youth. Since then we’ve had the same story for videogames, smartphones, social media, and now AI. Not to deny these technologies have all *changed* society, but the apocalypticism never quite pans out

@Martinoleary @tomfgoodwin I didn’t think so at first, but after watching "Tales from the Tour Bus", I completely agree.

Half of US data centers planned for 2026 are expected to be delayed or canceled. One big reason is shortage of electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear and batteries. US doesn't have manufacturing capacity, forcing it to rely on imports. 🎁🔗 bloomberg.com/news/features/…

Damn, that’s wild—Harvard stuck 24 office workers in the same room for 6 days, secretly tweaking the air quality (ventilation, CO2, and VOCs from typical office stuff), and their cognitive scores doubled in the cleaner “green+” conditions vs. standard stale setups. Better decision-making, strategy, crisis response—all crushed by poor indoor air we breathe 90% of the time.
Open windows, crank ventilation, cut the junk emitters. Your brain’s paying the price right now. Fix the air, sharpen the mind.
