The thing is, when people say men are “naturally” more violent, it’s never used to actually question anything. We’d be having serious conversations about why men dominate positions of power, why they have such easy access to weapons, why they commit the majority of violent crime, sexual violence, domestic abuse, and why they’re responsible for most wars and large-scale harm globally. Boys are raised in environments that reward control, entitlement, emotional suppression, and aggression, and then those same traits show up in violence, abuse, exploitation, and whether it’s in homes, relationships, or entire systems. And as long as people keep saying it as “just how men are,” it removes responsibility. Because if it’s learned, it can be unlearned but that would require men, collectively, to actually confront what’s being normalized instead of defending it.
