shoutout to anyone who has ever spent time in the brainweird zone between "do i have autism?" and "do i have adhd?" while carrying the burden of "is it even a big enough deal for me to seek a diagnosis and/ or treatment?" may you find peace

@goodnightrage It's strange isn't it. My nan passed last week and while nursing her she asked me for her mum several times and was so sad when she realised she'd died a long time ago...and yet they had a v.difficult relationship. I was so surprised she wanted her mum

People calling out for their mother in their last moments is so strange to me because why would you expect your mother to be a source of comfort? My therapist, burning a hole in their notebook: …

@DopaminePlsMe It's the pile of parcels I need to return which have sat there for weeks but I cannot make myself sort. The fact I know I'll probably do it a day after the return window and then hope for the best drives me mad but I'm still just looking at them

The ADHD Tax is the most expensive subscription I never signed up for. It’s the gym membership I haven’t used since 2023. It’s the $40 late fee for a bill I looked at every day for a week but forgot to pay. It’s the "healthy groceries" that went into the fridge to die a slow, slimy death.

@starmahlalela My nan passed at home 12 hours ago. Me, my sister and my mum had been with her all day. We knew it was close we reminisced, we laughed, we cried, we played her favourite songs, stroked her hair.....We stepped out of the room for 5 minutes to talk to a nurse....

(semaglutide) is a GLP-1 receptor agonist indicated for type 2 diabetes and has been proven to reduce cardiovascular risk. Large-scale outcome studies assessing heart safety did not find that patients became unable to walk due to extreme bone mineral density loss. Yes, there can be a small amount of bone density lost with weight loss – but this is a consequence of weight loss, not the destruction of bone by the drug itself. The findings in studies are not catastrophic. There is no high-quality clinical evidence that semaglutide causes early osteoporosis severe enough to render a person disabled before the age of 40. Diabetes itself is a risk factor for fractures and cardiovascular events. For most patients, cardiovascular protection is a much more immediate concern. Bone density can be maintained by monitoring with DEXA scans, ensuring adequate vitamin D and calcium, weight training, and healthy eating. If a patient is being told they will be “unable to walk unassisted” solely due to semaglutide, this is not consistent with current evidence-based information. #factcheck

I’m literally diabetic and should be on preventative ozempic for heart health but have been told multiple times by multiple doctors that it will come at the cost of prematurely poor bone mineral density which will render me UNABLE TO WALK UNASSISTED before I turn 40….

I didn't ghost you. I replied to you instantly in my head. It was a great message. You would have loved it. Unfortunately, I forgot the part where I physically type the words. Now, please accept this panicked 12-paragraph essay titled "I Am So Sorry" as compensation.

Scottish lentil soup is delicious, low in fat, packed with protein, iron, folate, potassium, vitamin A and vitamin C, so it's great for your heart and gut while also keeping you full for hours, helping you maintain a healthy weight. And it's SO cheap to make. My recipe below 👇

It was obviously going to be popular… but how is this even possible? You have a year to prepare and you know historically how many kits you’ll likely sell over the course of the year - so order the right stock levels in sufficient time. It’s £54 that people will be looking to spend on a potential Christmas present that will be spent elsewhere and they may not return. We can’t keep throwing easy money down the grid.

@adamfare1996 I was grateful we were able to get a car with a few safety bells and whistles this time. We'd not long been in the middle of a car sandwich (that I'm still recovering from 2 yrs later) on the m6. The extras meant I felt confident quicker and can ferry my daughter about

@DiaryofaSickGrl Just at that point myself even though it's been a few years since I got a diagnosis. Realising how it's chipping away who I was and that really to hope to get on any sort of even keel I need to let more go is pretty soul crushing. What bits will be left?!

At first it felt like I was just putting myself and my life on hold until I felt better. But realizing after my diagnoses that I may never feel better was pretty devastating. It’s like I’m continuing my life with only parts of myself and parts of my abilities.

Chronic illness takes pieces of you slowly. You don’t really notice at first. Hobbies, routines, parts of your personality start disappearing. One day you realize nothing feels the same anymore. Everything’s changed and somehow so have you.

@KittyDotty @Carlynotcarley Same, car is perfect for our needs but will go back next year because its obviously good for them to sell with 1 disabled user, good condition and low milage. Same one on the scheme now wants over 5k down-payment. We cant afford that every 3 yrs.

@Carlynotcarley I didn’t want to give up my last car, I had it for 5 years and would have kept it another 10 years as it was perfect but motability want them back to sell. So many of us would keep our car if we could.

@NowDebates1111 @ThePOTSPostman Oooo you've just perfectly summed up how I feel. I've felt so guilty about about it but hadn't been able to organise my thoughts enough to see it this clearly. I've just felt like I'm horribly negative but of course this is why. Thankyou.

@ThePOTSPostman I feel like for me this has caused an additional issue where nearly all social interactions have become innately loaded with some amount of negative expectations (“what will this cost me??”). I hope I can shed this 😭

With chronic illness there is always a balancing act most can’t see. Everyday is a negotiation between energy and obligation. How much pain will this cause me? Can I do this without crashing? Will this cause a flareup? Every day is a trade off, It’s what gets done vs what has to wait. Some days that means doing laundry instead of showering. Other days that may mean seeing an old friend instead of grocery shopping. Sometimes it’s canceling plans due to a miscalculation of an earlier task that has now left us bed bound. However when we do cancel, postpone, or skip plans, it’s not from disinterest. Most of the time it’s just survival.

@CF_Farrow It's amazing to me how my daughters old sen school could take a group of kids with considerable challenges all the way to Germany for a week but mainstream schools can't handle one sen child and their needs.

This is why “inclusion” so often isn’t real inclusion. My son has autism and is in mainstream. The only way he’s being “allowed” on next week’s PGL trip is if one of us goes with him and pays £300 extra for separate accommodation. He only gets 2 days, while his peers get 5. Then, because of the attendance law, he has to be back in school for the other 3 days so we don’t get fined - spending them alone with a TA, doing activities on his own and “helping” Year 2. He knows it’s unfair and feels excluded. This is how mainstream fails SEN kids. And parents like me get called “pushy” for wanting a special school where things like this wouldn’t happen.
