It’s interesting to note that we’re all trying to believe that “parkrunt” is a portmanteau of “parkrun” and “runt”, which really isn’t that plausible given the obvious delight taken by its initial deployers in using it. Given the way in which these portmanteau words are usually coined and used on platforms like this I would say the much more likely derivation was as a portmanteau of “parkrun” and “c*nt”. Now if people want to carry on believing it’s just “park-runt” because they can then go on using it because they tnink it’s “oh so funny” then go ahead—but I for one will no longer continue to look upon those people with benevolence any longer.

There may be vacancies but due to recruitment freezes people are currently unable to apply for any of them. @SocialistHB @tufftybluey @ruairidhtaylor It is so sad after training so hard. I have spent a lot of time visiting in hospital lately, and all the nurses have been great. I really felt for the young woman telling me she couldn’t get a job for when her training finished imminently.

She was a young Muslim and said to me it was unfair that they recruit so many from abroad. I felt so sorry for her.

@ruairidhtaylor @TomPMarshall @SocialistHB Theres unemployed doctors, nurses, midwives, physios crying out for jobs. Yes there was a gap and it is slowly but surely being addressed. A country if it invests money in training up ppl should always prioritise its own that it has trained up.
