Growth Is Change.
Twelve years ago, we started CTC in a 100 sq ft office above the Blue Frog bakery.
Our first project was trying to convince Russel Wilson to take equity in a brand called "Eat The Ball" (seriously look it up).
It was our first iteration. The-figure-it-out-and-do-whatever-someone-would-pay-us-to-do-version.
We had no ideas of an exit and not a single opinion on cost caps 😉. We wanted meaningful work, with people we loved, in service of entrepreneur's dreams.
We have changed 1000 times since then.
Because that's what growth is... constant change.
Today, I get to announce another change.
A strategic growth partnership with The Acacia Group.
This isn't an exit, it's an acceleration.
Acacia brings deep experience in backing tech-enabled services. Together, we're building a next-generation platform for helping DTC brands grow predictably and profitably.
CTC isn’t just a marketing agency. It’s a philosophy:
→ Every dollar is an investment
→ Every activity must tie to outcomes
→ Every system must drive leverage
Acacia shares these beliefs and has a vision for how we push it further.
Together we are going to scale our investment in technology to drive value and leverage for our customers while seeking out best in class services to expand the platform.
Among the many special parts of this for me:
Because we became an ESOP in 2022, over 100 CTC employees participated meaningfully in this moment.
The win meant more because the people who walked the road with me participated in it.
Employee ownership works.
More founders should explore it.
If you're a founder or CEO, I would urge you to consider it. Our people act like owners because they are. It has been a fundamental competitive advantage in an industry with lots of turnover.
This was not just a financial event, CTC isn’t just a marketing agency. It’s a philosophy:
→ Every dollar is an investment
→ Every activity must tie to outcomes
→ Every system must drive leverageit was a moment of shared legacy.
From here forward we are actively looking for world-class service providers who care about delivering predictable, profitable growth as much as we do.
If that’s you, or someone you know, let’s talk.
The DTC landscape is changing.
→ Capital is scarce
→ Efficiency is table stakes
→ Outcomes matter more than ever
We're committed to using technology, talent, and operational rigor to build the most effective profit partner in the space.
To DTC Twitter specifically.
Thank you.
You’ve made this journey possible, we aren't here without you.
As @tonychoPPC always says:
“Today is the best we’ve ever been… and the worst we’ll ever be.”

Since @9operators already dropped guess I should announce this 👇😅
Almost 2 months ago I left my full time job as a Director of ECOM. I didn’t have a fully-baked plan. I only knew 2 things for sure:
1. My husband and I were going to move out of the country for at least a year. We realized that if we were ever going to do it, now is the time.
2. Whoever I worked with next had to align with my values.
In comes @Jordan56413265...
I met Jordan when I was at CTC. After being promoted to Growth Strategy, I took over his account among a few others. And he was the first client I lost.
Then he asked to come back. If he could work with me.
I was honored. But shortly after, I left CTC and went in-house at another brand.
Nevertheless, we stayed in touch over the years. The more I got to know Jordan, the more I liked him. He’s driven for success, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 he’s committed to transparency, accountability, and data-driven decisions. Add to that his brand continues to grow and has huge untapped potential.
Finally, the stars aligned.
Starting in July, I will be the new Fractional Head of Growth at @_alphalion_ . I am honored and excited to step into this opportunity for what I believe will be the start of some incredible growth ahead.

My fav weird job interview question is "if you had to sing karaoke right now what song would it be and why?"🎙️
The answer reveals a shocking amount about a candidate.
There are no right or wrong answers and you'll be amazed by the wide variety of responses you'll receive.
You'll learn:
- If they've done karaoke before and how they feel about it. This alone can already tell you a lot their personality and social life outside of work.
- If/how they're comfortable performing or making a fool of themselves in front of other people.
- Their creativity and cultural interests and how they can relate with you and your team.
- Their sense of humor and adaptability to an awkward situation/question.
- Their comfort with taking risks and dealing with stress.
- How they'll fit in with the overall team: you don't need a team full of karaoke stars, but it's good to think about how personalities might gel, clash, or compliment each other in your team.
- Their empathy for the audience. Some people want to entertain the audience, some want the audience to participate, others don't even consider the audience and just want to sing for themselves.

@DenneyDara Go you. This business is tough, especially when you pour your heart and soul into it. You have definitely got this.

This is an agency owner's dream come true.
We finally cracked the code to see employee REAL TIME CAPACITY AND WORK.
Know exactly:
- who is under/overworked
- if you've over hired
- who doesn't have enough work
- if you're overspending on idle work
What we've done is build a real-time dashboard of capacity.
i.e. this shows our copywriter's real-time work allocated.
- Red shows days at 100% capacity.
- Dark green work allocated for day.
- Light greed available space.
How we're using this is to level out the workload.
i.e. You can only schedule work on days they "have capacity" to do the work. No more of this 10hrs of work to do in 8hrs.
This is called heijunka = Leveling. It's what Toyota uses.
This RIGHT HERE is how we've been able to know and get more out of our team. It REVEALS ALL.
No more:
- "I'm at capacity"
- "we need to hire more"
- "I can't handle more"
The answer is now: "let's look at see"
This is made in Clickup by the way.
If you're an agency and want to see how we made it, comment "show me" and I'll put together a training.
Huge props to @joshykobyashi for helping us put missing pieces together. @realdoseofdee for turning us on to Lean.
Comment "show me"
I'll put a training together.

I think the discourse for media buyers that come to DTC Twitter has never been more confusing than now.
Just way too many tweets flying about doing this and doing that. I really don't envy younger media buyers / growth teams looking here for answers.
From bidding strategies, to creative choices, to landing page options, to budgets, to ad set-ups. It's full of answers.
Couple that with an influx in sponsored DTC dinners that are not disclosed pushing SaaS or other tools on people.
I'm not here to say you can't attend DTC dinners or listen to everyone, but you must be very mindful that everything has a disclaimer, it depends.
My promise to you, and maybe makes me a bit unpopular in the DTC space is I'm not sharing tactics. Because there is just too much white space and nuisance. I'm not sharing with you the brands I run, some of which would make some contribution margin nerds drool over because no two businesses are alike.
I don't get invited to DTC dinners, conferences, or speaking engagements (except Geekout cause @iamshackelford and I are bffs and I love that man to death). I have nothing to sell you. I'm not looking for work. I'm not looking for consulting gigs. I'm here to have conversations.
I share this as I get back into work again tweeting after a 10 day vacation that was MUCH needed to get my head ready for the busiest time of year.
I'm ALWAYS here to answer Qs from my perspective, never hesitate to ask! Just wanted to tweet this out to those who are younger that this channel is meant to be a two-way communication with you, a younger buyer looking for advice.

This brand does creative testing the right way:
@trueclassictees was able to scale to $250 million in just 4 years using Facebook Ads to power their growth.
Their secret? A super easy messaging trick that nearly any brand can use.
