Even if the term knowledge gap is to be used, it is to be used as a complimentary or structural term in the sense that you are an expert in your field, as they are experts in their own fields and you all play very distinct roles under the umbrella of healthcare

You people are so quick to throw the word "knowledge gap" like it's some kind of intellectual deficit, like other health professions are the dumb version of medicine. You all sound very stupid at this point. Every one of you that throws that word 'knowledge gap'

@Ucg4sure @solobliss1 Some doctor that use Ulcer in their diagnosis always query it and can tell the patient they might have ulcer and not that they have ulcer. Also some might use the layman term ulcer for them since they wouldn't understand gastritis or dyspepsia if it's used for them.

@dr_igwe_ @solobliss1 😁😁😁. In our hospitals here in Nigeria ? Ask Nigerians that were told by medical doctors that they have ulcer ,how many of them did endoscopy before diagnosing their ulcer. Is it not Nigeria hospitals? Our teaching hospitals and medical centres? Or you want to talk about GH?

Urea breath test? H.pylori STOOL antigen test? I don't think this is absolutely correct.

@Ucg4sure @solobliss1 I've never told my patient they have ulcer, i always use DYSPEPSIA until an endoscopy is done, it is not a confirmed ulcer but an assumption. I do not force them to do it either if I don't have a strong indication for because of cost and is highly invasive

@Ucg4sure @solobliss1 The treatment is for dyspeptic symptoms and H pylori eradication and not for ulcer. Without endoscopy, no certainty that there's ulcer, it could be gastritis or even a gastric cancer

@solobliss1 Endoscopy? yes , it is endoscopy. Doctors are busy quoting this as if those of them in Nigeria always insist on endoscopy before commencing treatment of ulcer. It is very funny how they always rush to make a scapegoat for what almost of them are guilty of.

@Coronel_Blimp A stool ag test for h pylori in a young patient without alarm signs and clinical features in keeping with pud/gastritis/dyspepsia is sufficient to commence mgt with eradication therapy + antacids In short, a definitive diagnosis is not mandatory to commence treatment

Your kids don't bear your father's name. They bear your family surname. It's a way to trace their lineage. The only reason why it doesn't feel important now is because we have lived through one of the most peaceful times in history. If that weren't the case, everyone will lock in with their clan for survival. And to know what clan you belong to. You all carry a traceable name that goes back generations. You'll be cutting your kids off that identity because you want to be cool or different. Your kids benefit nothing, they stand to lose their identity. I'm sure there are guys who have met a girl from their village abroad, only to be asked what the girl's surname is and finding out that that's your cousin. You just saved the world an inbred kid. Because her lineage is traceable.
