@GerberKawasaki eBay‘s unit economics are unsustainable long term. they have a product & marketing problem. luckily they faced minimal competition as investors shunned funding the horizontal C2C marketplace cold start problem and founders gave up trying. x.com/juliusilg/stat…

.@eBay paid CAC of $2’400 per incremental buyer in 2025 🤯 since the CEO of eBay said “The average household has $3,000-$4,000 [worth] of stuff that could be sold on eBay. Lless than 20% of that is online 80% is not online meaning the high CAC is not a late stage marketplace saturation issue. It‘s a product & marketing issue @shackxyz

eBay is actually doing a lot to improve their business. They have no reason to do a deal with a junk company run by this silly guy. $ebay $gme

beautiful, ty! deal entering the haystack: $ 8bn val. was just announced by EU fashion C2C Vinted (pre-mobile and pre-AI tech stack). we're mobile & AI native one app to sell anything: $0.5m @ 4m pre to hit 42k mau milestone together (3x) on our long-term mission to unlock a pure global C2C network Shack: @shackxyz we're horizontal and live in the US, Germany, Switzerland & Austria removing trade borders, waste and connecting strangers through direct trade. 320k GMV & 200k revenue (through in-app purchases and token sales) > CAC dropped from $100 to $2 YoY > global remote team of four domain expert (each 10y+ in their field) 8-12 months runway 3 awesome angel investors backed us with 300k total (last check ($50k) last week) clean cap table: ~95% founding team horizontal C2C is as non-consensus as it gets in the deep tech/B2B/fintech/vertical meta. users want one app to sell what they don't need, not 10+ apps (for each category). bright side of non-conesensus: very little startup competition. one of the few is tradepost, which raised $4.6m and is C to B to B to C, only in the US and currently in the ticket category. „global horizontal C2C network effects as quite a moat in a post-AI world“ would be aweseome to chat via DM and build a global home for C2C: Shack cheers from switzerland julius 8bn vinted: ft.com/content/841096… Website: shack.xyz App #information" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">apps.apple.com/ch/app/shack-y… Company Shack AG (Swiss C Corp) zefix.ch/de/search/enti… Julius LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/julius-ilg-… @PrecursorVC @HustleFundVC @BoostVC @outlandervc @actionscapital @redbudvc @2048vc @GoAhead @rightsidecap @ldvcapital @ChargeVC

wondering what consumer/marketplace funds will tell their LPs, when asked how they‘re allocated to C2C/P2P startups given the success of Vinted and LLM friction/cost reduction of all the involved manual workflows within C2C. especially horizontally with global ambitions. deal flow seems inexistent and allocation absent. stretch arguments: > tradepost (that only does tickets) > horizontal gets unbundled into categories (would imply recreational sellers prefer 10 apps for selling compared to one) main reasons > career risk: backing (horizontal) C2C early is the definition of insanity > fund construction: slow, messy liquidity curves make modeling a nightmare > cold-start fear: paid acquisition/retention looks ugly early > pattern matching: last epic consumer marketplaces wave too long ago to be remembered Vinted rewarded the ones who did it anyway and they‘re 90% one category: clothing. sensing exiting times ahead 🍸

BREAKING: Lithuania’s 🇱🇹 first unicorn Vinted just hit an €8B valuation after an EQT-led secondary share sale. No new money raised. Existing investors and employees sold part of their stakes. But the real story is in the operating numbers: → €1.1B revenue in 2025 → €62M net profit → €10.8B GMV → GMV up 47% year-over-year → Revenue up from €11M in 2017 to €1.1B in 2025 🤯 It’s clear that it has become a serious European marketplace infrastructure. Vinted is not just matching buyers and sellers anymore. It is building the rails around the transaction: payments (EMI licence), shipping (their own biz), verification, cross-border liquidity, and now new categories like books, toys and video games. That matters because marketplaces do not win only by having supply. They win when every annoying part of the transaction disappears. Listing is easy. Trust is hard. Delivery is hard. Payments are hard. Cross-border resale is very hard. Vinted has quietly turned second-hand commerce into a logistics and payments problem. And it is solving that problem from Vilnius 🇱🇹 Baltics keep cooking world-class startups. Let’s go! 🚀

Oracle said it will now power its Project Jupiter campus in New Mexico with up to 2.45 GW of Bloom Energy $BE fuel cells instead of gas turbines and diesel generators. The switch cuts NOx emissions by about 92% and keeps the AI data center on a single microgrid campus.

This chart helps explain why the German economy is falling apart. Instead of starting small businesses, Germans prefer to "work" for the government. A nation cannot stay prosperous with such a mindset. Only entrepreneurialism and free markets create prosperity, not the state.

A humanoid robot will cost us $30K and works 24/7 for $0.40/hour. A solar panel generates electricity for 3 cents/kWh. What exactly is the argument that we CAN'T create abundance?

Spotify needs to release a “kids” setting so I can play all the songs my kids listen to without it affecting my own Discovery algorithm. Insane that I can’t do this already. My Discover Weekly is just nursery songs and Moana. @Spotify please fix this.
