Two years ago today, Afghan women were banned from universities. The Taliban promised they could study "honorable" fields like medicine—then banned that too this month. Afghanistan is now the only place on Earth where women are banned from every field of study.

Some thoughts about last night at Swansea. People gathered to talk about the law, against the context of court victories and a forthcoming Supreme Court case. No clearer evidence could there be that the current law is confused and confusing and urgently needs clarification. Yet we had to make our way past trans identifying men and some women who declared that for the exercise of our protected political speech about women’s rights, we were full of hate. Helen Joyce in particular is directly targeted. Just before I arrived protestors had tried to block the entrance and one attempted to assault a security guard. The trans identifying man targeting HJ called to me to come and talk to him. He is apparently an academic. If he had a genuine wish to talk, why wasn’t he attending the actual talk, asking questions, engaging? Because they don’t want to talk. They want us to be silent. 2 key lessons. This is about women’s rights, not male validation. The next government will have to deal with this. This is not a ‘culture war’ - it is about violent men who will disregard the law to get their own way.

Activists trying to stop people attending a conference on evidence-based care for patients presenting with gender dysphoria. This branch of healthcare is currently dictated more by activists than by medical experts.

At CAN-SG conference. It's the first time I have ever attended a medical conference requiring police protection. Healthcare should be driven by evidence not ideology. Here are the two sides of this debate #FirstDoNoHarm

Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender
We are really concerned that our @YouTube channel has been incorrectly flagged as containing 'conversion therapy content'. We are working to get this issue resolved & apologise for any distress caused to our viewers. At CAN-SG we are unequivocally opposed to conversion therapy. We are a group of UK and Ireland based clinicians calling for greater understanding of sex and gender in healthcare #FirstDoNoHarm Today's conference First Do No Harm, brings together clinicians, researchers, parents, patients and therapists to discuss current controversies in the care of children and young people with gender-related distress, safeguarding as it relates to sex and gender, sex-based language in healthcare, and addressing the impacts of gender medicine on same-sex attracted youth. Our webinars, hosted by YouTube aim to cover the scope of our concerns and our work in the field of sex and gender in health care. Our aims 1 Enhance professional and public understanding of the nature of sex, gender, gender roles and identity, with respect to medicine and healthcare 2 Improve knowledge about the causes, consequences and treatments of gender dysphoria, drawing on best evidence 3 Promote free and respectful discourse on sex, gender and gender identity between healthcare professionals Our values 1 Our values are rooted in universalism, compassion and respect for human rights 2 We welcome constructive dialogue within healthcare and are committed to considering a range of views in order to clarify understanding of evidence and to facilitate clear communication 3 “First, do no harm” means we take seriously the responsibility of all clinicians to examine potential harms associated with all healthcare interventions, especially when treating vulnerable populations, and to address uncertainty with research First Do No Harm Critical perspectives on sex and gender in health Conference 2024 Join the livestream from 9:45 with our conference welcome from Baroness Dianne Hayter @HayteratLords tickettailor.com/events/clinica… @Hilary_Cass

Irrefutable evidence of a predatory & abusive man pretending to be a woman in order to carry out predatory & abusive behaviour. I hope those who argued this sort of thing never happens will now think again. Self ID without safeguards is not a good idea.

This woman is shouting; “ Death to Khamenei”, after morality police beaten her and injured her leg for not wearing hijab in Tabriz, Iran. A young girl who filmed this says: 3 hijab enforcers warned her to cover her hair but she refused. They called ambulance & didn’t let people to help her. She was shouting that we the women are not safe. Recently, #ArmitaGeravand 16 year old girl went into a coma after being beaten up by hijab enforcers in Tehran. Systematic violence against unveiled women has increased in Iran.

Seems like an appropriate time to remind everyone that women have never protested against a trans event. Not once. Sadly, they aren’t capable of showing us the same respect. #filia2023 #womenwontwheesht 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💜🤍💚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

How sad is it that a group of ordinary women, gathering to speak about our rights, requires this level of security? Keep in mind the fact that women have never once staged a counter-protest at any trans rallies/protests. Not once. #womenwontwheesht #LetWomenSpeak 💜🤍💚

Reem Alsalem UNSR Violence Against Women and Girls
I thank First Minister @HumzaYousaf for taking the time to reassure women, such as those gathered at @FiLiA_charity conference, that they can meet without intimidation, particularly at a time when he has many pressing issues, including the safety of his parents-in-law and extended family. I hope his relatives stay safe and that they and the millions of civilians trapped in Gaza and those in Israel are spared further suffering.
@GinaDavidson@ginadavidsonlbc

I asked @HumzaYousaf about this today - the yelling at women, the “fuck yous” etc he said “nothing gives them the right, no matter how strongly they hold their views, to shout down women”

Spent the weekend reading texts from people at #FiLiA2023, and now an evening listening to an attendee talk about her experiences. WHAT an institution it is. If the people who traduce these feminists only knew the diamond-tipped determination of the women in those rooms…
