One thing I find completely baffling about the Guardians’ organization is that they continue to value platoon advantage over actual production capability, and they lose games over it. They lost yesterday because they gave Stuart Fairchild the start, and Tim Herrin the ball in the 7th: Jhonkensy Noel and Johnathan Rodriguez started Game 1 against the Tigers last year and went 0-for-6 with five strikeouts and two errors that directly led to Detroit’s only two runs. Why does it matter which hand a player uses if the overall goal is to produce/prevent more runs?
