Want to easily scrape data from news media sites? There's an R package for that! paperboy "paperboy offers writers of web scraping scripts a clear path to publish their code and earn co-authorship on the package, while promising users to deliver news media data from many websites in a consistent format."

Interesting paper: 161 researchers in 73 research teams used the same data and hypothesis (immigration reduces support for social policies among the public), but arrived at different results and conclusions. Paper in PNAS

Pro tip, folks: if you make a figure for a publication, don’t just hand the copyright over to the publisher. Post it on OSF first and then give yourself permission to use it in the first publication and then all future publications. That way, no permissions issues.

Homicides are down 21% year-to-date in 2025 across the top 30 cities, following national declines of 12% in 2023 and 15% in 2024. If this trend holds, the U.S. could see the fewest murders in over 50 years and the lowest per capita homicide rate ever recorded.

The tendency to lie is a trait that is consistent across time and settings. If you know someone who lies to other people... they are probably lying to you as well. Another great paper by @IsabelThielmann and colleagues. psycnet.apa.org/record/2025-70…
