Dude, there's no evidence he contracted syphilis. He was xenophobic and reclusive and died of intestinal cancer. He was married but even then he was distant and they spent most of their time apart.
Mamy writers did contract syphilis around that time hence why he's mistakenly thought to.have had it. There are no medical records on him contracting it.
