Please spare a thought for those of us carers working 12 hour shifts on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day who won’t be spending it with our own friends and family, but will be doing everything we can to make the day as special as possible for yours.

Wes Streeting calls them "moaning minnies" and says they're acting like "juvenile delinquents." How about the Prime Minister condemns his Health Secretaries comments and gives people the pay they deserve? Otherwise this looks a lot like performative nonsense....

This Christmas, a lot of people will be working hard to keep our country safe, often away from their families. We invited public sector workers to Downing Street for an early Christmas dinner to say thank you.

Looks like Wes Streeting, Kier Starmer & the whole DHSC media spin team are bang to rights here by JVT. Currently no super flu & no NHS wide crisis. A lot of apologies needed from those players and the media in general. As we’ve said, even if it became a problem we’d use derogation.

You called your negotiating partners and employees, juvenile delinquents on national television. You've not offered a single penny in headline pay in a pay dispute. Do you have any clue what you're doing, or are you hoping 30,000 doctors will shut up and go away.
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

I have been doing all I can – including sitting down with BMA yesterday – to stop these strikes. Unfortunately, we haven’t reached an agreement. My entire focus now is working with the NHS team here and across the country to get through the next five days. 1/3

The public are purposefully misinformed by UK media: 1. Superflu that doesn’t exist and is trending down. 2. Labour haven’t given 28.9% pay (£4-8/h), they’ve only given 4%. 3. Doctors can end up getting pay progression - but there is no automatic progression and this is far from guaranteed. Many doctors are stuck at dead end jobs or worse, unemployed. 4. We are competing against the entire world for jobs, with more international applicants than national. 42% of the UK doctor workforce are internationals today. 5. Doctors pay is still below pre-pandemic levels in real terms. That’s right, doctors died and get paid less for bailing out the UK. 6. Assistants are paid >30% than doctors. That’s more than full pay restoration!

“but this strike won’t be popular with the public!” why does a strike need to be popular with the public? why does every single industrial action in this country have to exist as a referendum on the very existence of organised labour?

ITV News has filmed patients being treated in hospital corridors, hours before tens of thousands of resident doctors in England walked out on strike. So-called “corridor care” is happening in many hospitals across the country as the NHS struggles to cope with rising demand.

Add it up… You wait 12 hours in A&E to see a doctor You wait six months to see a specialist doctor… You wait a year to get your operation by a doctor Yet, hundreds of British trained, qualified doctors can’t get a job!!!! It doesn’t add up, does it?

Wes has conceded that Streeting's Strikes this week would cause £¼ billion Alongside previous strikes, that money could have paid for 3yrs of pay restoration @wesstreeting has chosen to waste a colossal amount of taxpayer money, all because of his ego
Health Service Journal@HSJnews

Streeting says the cost of the five day resident doctor strikes, starting today, would be a quarter of a billion pounds.

I will just point out the Doctors have asked for a maximum of £800m, that's for 71,000 doctors who run all the hospitals. That's 'too expensive'. But when the Water Companies asked for £5bn, they were given it. Broken Britain, money for thieves, no money for you.
