@davidmdiehl @giarC71 @MomOnFire For context, these two Idaho cities are located roughly around the same longitude, but about 5 degrees apart in latitude. CDA is tied to Spokane which is why it's in Pacific Time; which also means Spokane should be in MST too.

@davidmdiehl @giarC71 @MomOnFire Places like Boise, ID - which would see a 9:15 winter sunrises with DST, would benefit on standard time. Coeur d'Alene - in the Pacific Time Zone - would see a 3:45 summer sunrise with standard time, so moving CDA into Mountain Standard Time would be more beneficial.

I hate Daylight Saving. I’m truly sorry some people live in places where it gets dark early, but I hate it and want it abolished.

@davidmdiehl @giarC71 @MomOnFire The latest sunset that occurs in the lower 48 is at 10:05pm - in North Dakota. The same region that would have the 9:50am sunrise in the winter with DST. Obviously that region needs to be in standard time, but standard time is not the best solution everywhere.

A 4am sunrise is the lesser of two evils. With DST, some northern places get sunsets as late as 10pm. Even on standard time they’d still be around 9pm. Summer sunrises are already around 5am in many places, so shifting them an hour earlier isn’t a huge adjustment. If it bothers people, blackout curtains exist to mitigate the impacts of earlier sunlight. If forced to choose between PDST or PST, PST is the better choice.

@davidmdiehl @giarC71 @MomOnFire I have blackout curtains, that’s not the problem. The problem is that with standard time, some places would see summer sunrises before 4am while most people sleep, and I’m not going to get up earlier. If rather have the daylight in the evening where it’s more useful. PDT > PST

@davidmdiehl @giarC71 @MomOnFire I agree but the latest winter sunrises with DST would be at 9:45am in North Dakota, in the far western edge of the time zone. It also makes no sense to have 3:45am summer sunrises without DST. This happens in a few places on the eastern edge of time zones.

@giarC71 @MomOnFire Team ST… It makes no sense to have sunrises as late as 9:30am-10am in winter with DST.

@pepsi No, it's not. Water is above everything else, and it's the only thing I drink.

@BrozWx This would be a logistical nightmare. We should definitely remain on whole-hour offsets, but shift the boundaries westward.

Idea: what if we did half hour time zones that more closely aligned with the sun?

British Columbia is switching their clocks for the last time this Sunday. There's a lot going on in the world right now, but there is NO reason to not make daylight saving time permanent. Congress should pass my bill to finally lock the clock.

HD Directory was not updated on Friday. Reason: I forgot. My bad. Then the unexpected: naughty cat had surgery last night for eating a foreign object. She’s doing well this morning per the vet. So, I’ll try to push out an update on Friday, but no guarantees.

Canada is shutting down Weatheradio, their version of VHF NOAA Weather Radio, which transmits weather and warnings on 162.4-162.55 MHz. Seems shortsighted. canada.ca/en/environment…

The Teziutlán TEF server is experiencing excellent tropospheric propagation to South Texas, up toward San Antonio and Houston. I managed to snag WQNZ Natchez, MS on it a little while ago. Per one of the admins: 6060 feet ASL + proximity to the coast. No wonder!

I forgot to push this week's HD Radio Directory update and I'm too tired to do it now. I'll do it tomorrow night if not Sunday morning. Good night!
