I was at Toronto Stadium today. The pitch upgrades are outstanding. Most other changes were necessary to bring the facility up to standard. North Stand is not ready yet. The biggest issue is the overwhelming feeling of temporary: seats, stands, hospitality. Missed opportunity.

Some people prefer to play or watch one over the other, some like all 3. I learned after going to games in developing nations not to get strung up about it.

One person “going to the rugby this weekend” (it was Roosters vs Souths), another whose “son plays rugby (league)”. It’s happening more than usual in my personal experience.

I work at Toronto airport and still see Wolfpack hats and speak to many people that miss RL and the unique experience it brought.No other city RL has visited has left that legacy and fans behind.

I think taking a round to different places and grounds is brilliant, we’ve seen it work in Barcelona, Las Vegas and soon to be Paris and Dublin.

Call me cynical but Rugby League is never going to hit it big anywhere it hasn't already. A whole heap of promotion in recent years for Vegas has promoted that but fades into the background especially outside of Vegas and Aussie ex-pat communities.

The issue is that you'd be preparing to play something different to what you are playing to prepare for!

England had a break in this year's Super League season, but didn't want to play France, so played no one. The issue is less about breaks, but finding opponents. NZ, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji etc are not going to be available mid-season. Unlikely to get RLPA/NRL approval on releasing players. The other issue is cost. Can the RFL afford a week in the southern hemisphere to send England there? No.
