@PalmerLuckey Agree. People call it “slop” only when they can see it. Behind great software, nobody cares who wrote the code. If it’s fast and works well, that’s all that matters.

Everyone who thinks AI slop will ruin code efficiency/performance is going to be so surprised when everything is absurdly well-optimized John Carmack style machine code.

@G4IJIN_VR Yeah, I believe the key is designing for both from day one, before a single line of gameplay code is written, not trying to retrofit one into the other later. It takes some courage to challenge conventional design, but that’s probably where the next breakthrough will come from.

@eGainers I don’t think hardware is the hurdle, design is. I’m hesitant to think that you could make a game with great VR native design that translates well to flatscreen, but I could be wrong.

Was just converted from a 3-monitor setup to a single ultrawide. I’m finding I’m more immersed with this than I am with most VR games. Has me wondering again about what VR native design hurdles are left to change that.

@GAMERTAGVR You need time, that’s why Hybrid games will save VR and convert flat players slowly

Some people try VR once, feel sick, and never go back. People who stick with it tell me they just needed time to adjust using a combination of short sessions, teleport movement, vignettes and absolutely avoid driving and flying. VR sickness is a huge hurdle regardless and hope we overcome it soon.

@RoccoVR4Player @PlayStationAU Piracy. I’m against in principal and thinking more for the Devs. But. As a player. If you pitate the game you own it and if you pay $60/70/100 you don’t ? I’m ok to not have ownership if is free to play or at least should be must cheaper $70 ownership $20 license

Most people think VR is strapping a screen to your face. For me it’s complete escapism. Stepping inside games I love versus watching them on a screen is life changing. I’ve become Link, Samus, Leon & many more but this feeling is still unknown to most gamers. VR is the future of gaming & it’s already here.

I have been trying to find something meaningful to say about the Id Software layoffs. My “Microsoft will probably be a good steward of the brand” statement isn’t aging well, and this is certainly going to dampen the mood of the founder reunion at QuakeCon next month. I’m saddened, but I can’t muster anger or outrage over it. I don’t have access to the books, but I suspect that Id Software was a marginal business from Microsoft’s perspective. I believe the reports that Minecraft revenues have been carrying several other studios. To continue being produced long term, games need to succeed, not just be beloved. Games are competing with every other option for spending your leisure time and money, and the competition is brutal. You can’t rule out the possibility that executives are idiots, but that shouldn’t be your default belief. I don’t think there is any obvious path that would have doubled the revenue from Id games. Could they have gotten more with a different pricing strategy? Could they have created more things for fans to buy? Could they have cost effectively marketed in a way that reached more players that would have loved and bought the games? Could they have changed the game designs and broadened the appeal to more players without alienating existing ones? Could they have produced the games at a lower cost, faster or cheaper? I really don’t know. The game isn’t over yet, and I hope the studio rallies through.

@ExoshockVR Can't wait for Quest release! I know for a fact couple of my flat gamer friends would buy PC version just to play with me in co-op, crossplay is a right direction for VR, it broadens our reach and builds bridges towards flat gaming communities, making them more interested in VR

Lobby polish pass is in progress for Steam Next Fest. 🔺Rebuilt the skybox into a proper skysphere. 🔺Improved range lighting. 🔺Cleaned up visibility issues and missing boundaries. 🔺Fixed a few UI alignment and lobby flow issues. Separately, we’re making a lot of headway on multiplayer through testing, bug fixing, and stability work 👀
