Most cities can't build digital systems on their own. That's the honest truth. So how are governments making digital platforms work across hundreds of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)? Join the eGov Academy Knowledge Series to hear directly from practitioners who are navigating these challenges on the ground. 🗓️ 13th March | 4:00 - 5:30 PM | Register Here: egov.org.in/events/ #UrbanGov #DigitalIndia #eGov

We often talk about Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in terms of "scale", "security", and "systems." We recently hosted a floor talk with @enableindia where technical terms were replaced by something more vital: the human heartbeat. True accessibility isn’t a technical specification. It is the difference between a locked door and a homecoming. The team shared how, for those navigating a world of shadows, an inclusive interface is more than a tool; it is their eyes and their bridge to the economy. For those with limited mobility, digital platforms are a vital gateway, bypassing physical obstacles to provide independent access to rehabilitation, support networks, and professional growth. And for those who communicate through sign or silence, technology acts as a voice, providing the confidence to lead in a world that too often forgets to listen. They remind us that while physical and sensory barriers exist, they should never be barriers to a person's dignity or contribution. These challenges are a quiet "no" to millions every day, proving why accessibility must be a foundation, not an afterthought. This is the Purple Economy. As the @enableindia team shared: “Inclusion means business.” When we leave people out, we don't just fail a community, we impoverish our entire ecosystem, losing the grit and ingenuity of millions. @RaghavanShanti, Founder of @enableindia, poignantly noted: disability represents one of the strongest and most comprehensive use cases for DPI. When we build for those facing the greatest barriers, we create systems that are more intuitive and usable for everyone from a parent holding a child to a senior citizen navigating new tech. At eGov Foundation, this was a calibration of our North Star. We don't want to build "systems" that merely function; we want to build digital spaces where every person feels they belong. @VirajPositive | Aveek De | Gautham Ravichander | Sudesh Adeppa, PMP® | @RaghavanShanti | Neeraj Krishnan | @enableindia | @eGovFoundation #InclusiveDesign #Accessibility #DigitalPublicInfrastructure #PurpleEconomy #DigitalPublicGoods #Inclusion

Give capable teams the right tools, and magic happens. We recently hosted LogicSoft at eGov Foundation, and their journey is an example of what an open ecosystem can unlock. Logicsoft did not wait for an introduction. They did not come to eGov Foundation for a walkthrough. They picked up an open-source platform, understood its architecture, and independently built production-grade systems serving citizens across food safety compliance, trade licensing, agriculture governance, and more. No sales conversations. No onboarding program. Just a capable team with access to the right tools. That is the promise of open digital ecosystems. You do not gate-keep innovation. You enable it. And when you do, partners like LogicSoft do not just adopt your platform. They push it further than you imagined. The arc of their journey from being independent builders who evaluated DIGIT purely on architectural merit to scale project delivery with repeatable systems that could handle real world productivity, stood out for us. This shift was not only technical, It was philosophical. As their CSO Henry Ellis mentioned, “Sustenance has been on the good work the organisation has done.” Here is the honest part too. During our conversations, Mr. Balachandran, Director candidly shared that one of their biggest regrets was not connecting with the eGov ecosystem sooner. At eGov Foundation, we see LogicSoft as a partner that leads by example for the broader System integrators (SI) community. When deep domain expertise meets open infrastructure, you do not need permission to create impact at scale. The tools are available. The architecture is also available. What matters is the conviction to pick them up and build. @VirajPositive | Varun Basu | Vibhor Bansal | Krishnakumar Thiagarajan | Aveek De | Jasminder Pal Singh Saini | Suhas Rajaram | Eisha Sathish Shetty | Avadaiappan Balachandran | Hawa Singh | Henry Ellis | Logicsoft | youtu.be/fVE7HbQjqkQ?si… | #OpenSource #GovTech #OpenEcosystems #PublicDigital #EcosystemBuilding #PlatformThinking #SystemIntegrators #CollaborativeInnovation #PublicSectorTransformation

The discussion moved beyond software! It became a conversation about state capacity and how governments must re-architect themselves for scale, speed, and sustainability in an AI-first world. At the recent Google.org Impact Summit in New Delhi, Viraj Tyagi, CEO of eGov Foundation, joined Rowan Barnett from Google.org with Kamya Chandra for a fireside chat on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in the AI era and what it will truly take to move from promise to population-scale impact. A few ideas that stood out: → Cost vs. Effort: Digital systems often reduce costs, but citizens still bear the burden of navigating fragmented institutions. Initiatives like eGov Foundation’s 10BedICU demonstrate how a strong digital backbone is essential to reducing this friction and accelerating life-saving coordination. → From "Pull" to "Push": By layering AI onto interoperable infrastructure, governments can move from reactive services to anticipatory ones, adding capacity where institutions are stretched. → The Human Equation: Technology is only part of the solution. Policy, institutional readiness, and the ability to build simply will ultimately determine if DPI and AI translate into population-scale impact. A question for the ecosystem: If DPI is the road and AI is the vehicle, what’s the single biggest constraint preventing governments from moving faster towards population-scale impact? @VirajPositive | @rowbar | @kamyachandra | @Google | @CentreforDPI | @worldbankgroup #DigitalPublicInfrastructure #DPI #AI #GovTech #eGovFoundation #DigitalIndia #PublicSector #SocialImpact #GoogleOrgImpactSummit #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the 10BedICU initiative by eGov Foundation reflects what happens when AI is designed for the realities of government hospitals, where ICU teams balance high patient loads, limited specialist access, and growing documentation demands. Built in collaboration with state governments, clinicians, and ecosystem partners, the initiative’s intention is to strengthen critical care capacity in public hospitals. 10bedICU enables the infrastructure, tele-ICU support, and AI-enabled tools that help doctors and nurses focus on care rather than paperwork. From local-language clinical documentation to protocol-based decision support, the emphasis is on making technology usable, reliable, and institution-ready. What stood out most at the summit was not just interest in innovation, but the depth of engagement. It reinforced a simple truth: AI in healthcare matters most when it strengthens systems and serves those working at the frontlines. This work is now gaining wider recognition beyond the ecosystem. The initiative was recently featured in The Times of India, highlighting how AI is being applied in ways that meaningfully support frontline healthcare teams. @srikanth_nadha | @VirajPositive | Gigin Chandy George | @DrSiriNN | Divya Raj | @BisoyaLoitongb1 #10BedICU #AIinHealthcare #PublicHealth #eGovFoundation #HealthcareInnovation #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026

What's the one thing you think cities must get right before scaling AI? That's the question our CEO, @VirajPositive brought to the #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026 and the answers were anything but simple. A conversation that included → @JumbiOncam, PhD, Global Business Development – Smart Cities & Spaces, @nvidia → Ujjwal Kumar, CEO, Quantum Alliance AI → @MashalDhawan, CEO, @SmartEnergyW Asia → Anshul Mishra, Addl. Director, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) | Former Member Secretary, CDMA cut through the hype and into what cities genuinely need to get right. At eGov Foundation, this reinforces what we've long believed: AI is only as powerful as the governance infrastructure beneath it. Clean data, institutional readiness, and shared frameworks aren't prerequisites they are the work. #IntelligentCities #UrbanGovernance #PublicInfrastructure #DigitalGovernment #AIForPublicGood

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) shows what’s possible when digital payments are public, but also what remains hard to get right. At the University of Mumbai, the DPI Academy team (a joint initiative of @Artha__Global and @eGovFoundation) shared findings from their flagship report 'Understanding UPI through User Experience', exploring how everyday users experience trust, safety, and value in digital payments: tinyurl.com/2bzu9whk The discussion dived into how local contexts shape usage, why trust and fraud risks matter as much as access, and what the public good nature of UPI means for sustaining it. It was energising to engage with students and faculty who brought thoughtful questions and fresh perspectives, hopefully sparking more research on how India’s digital systems are evolving on the ground. @CafeEconomics @MumbaiUni
