@AlderLaneEggs The last time a superpower invaded a neighbouring country on a completely artificial pretext, it didn’t exactly go well for the superpower. Ukraine is still standing after over 3 years even though Russia thought it would take 3 weeks.

Exactly it will take about 4 1/3 hours and Arctic Mexico will then be a U.S Territory

@KenBoessenkool @maxfawcett @KristopherWells I will put in a plug for Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye. Won whiskey of the year a few years ago. Distilled in Gimli Manitoba. Also we should be looking to our old friends in Ireland and Scotland who distill whiskies of exceptional quality. Diversifying our trade and all that

@bruce_arthur Do you think she or Kat Kanada (whoever they are) realize that two of our provincial flags (Alberta and Sask.) have depictions of wheat on them? Two of our most communist provinces for sure. And this person is running for office?

Aspiring CPC federal candidate has thoughts that she just puts out there on the Internet, in a helpful preview of where the party is going

@alexbozikovic @normsworld The internet says that Utah was staying at the Ritz Carlton which is near the corner of Simcoe and Wellington. It is a 4 min walk from their hotel to the Scotiabank Arena. Downtown streets to the West and North were closed due to the Santa Claus parade. It’s a war on Christmas!

Think I am about done here. Just joined Bluesky sky at @eadydon.bsky.social. See ya over there. After a couple of hours over there the grass seems bluer. My mom always said “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything”. She was right.

Bye bye Furey 👋👋 Furey thought he'd win on name recognition and wanted to avoid running on his harmful record. We didn't let that happen. Our incredible volunteers dropped 22,000+ flyers telling voters the truth about Furey! When voters learned the truth, they rejected him.

@JILLSLASTWORD @normsworld Eldest son graduated from Northern SS in 2020. When he was in Grade 9 (2016) he figured he could ride the Crosslink in Grade 12 (2019/20). Nope. Youngest son now is in Grade 12 at Northern (class of 2025). It is unlikely he will ride the Crosslink before graduation.

Ford's 19-week summer vacaton is over and we still have NO opening date for the Eglinton LRT. Metrolinx is in complete disarray. Why should the public be expected to trust them? We need a public inquiry and a CLEAR opening timeline now.

As a long-time downtown Toronto cyclist who also owns & drives a car in the city, I think have some insight into what drives some people to rage against bike lanes in the GTA. I honestly feel that root of anti-bike lane sentiment is jealousy. 🧵 #onpoli @PrabSarkaria

Working on syllabus for upcoming Sports Law course Still charting boundaries of what I believe falls within Sport Law. I think assault DURING a sporting event is included But what about assault by athletes not on field? Is sexual assault by hockey players at hotel Sport Law?

@TheLawofWork Analogy to regular labour law. Employee commits sex assault in the workplace and gets fired and charged criminally. The firing is Labour Law. The criminal charges aren’t.

@TheLawofWork My two cents are that Sport Law only includes consequences from team, league or governing body for misconduct. Player assaults spouse and is suspended (or not) from their league, that is Sport Law. Criminal or civil consequences of same are not.

@JasonParis @normsworld Just so people know, this company (at least in Toronto) was originally publicly owned and was privatized in 1998 and again in 2012. It originally provided steam heat to local hospitals, the U of T and provincial govt buildings.

@TheLawofWork @ACTRAnational As an old Scottish trade unionist once insisted to me, “there is no honour in a legal strike”. On the legal strike point, there is an Alta Board decision declining to intervene in one of the NHL lockouts

@eadydon @ACTRAnational Sometimes but not always. Some pretty basic questions remain though. Like in BC, can a Canucks player file a DFR? Technically no, since they are in a “trade union”. So is it common law DFR? Can Canuck/Canadiens lawfully strike? I assume not, since not legally unionized. Etc

Seems to me that transnational sports collective bargaining shares issues with @ACTRAnational bargaining. The bargaining model works insofar as the parties agree to make it work. But if you try to fit the bargaining into the actual legal model, serious issues surface.
David J. Doorey🇨🇦 💙@TheLawofWork

The more I dig into @NHLPA & @NHL collective bargaining model, the more questions I have. In Quebec, voluntary recognition isn’t permitted at all & NHL collective bargaining is founded on voluntary recognition. In BC, NHLPA isn’t a “union”. So are Canucks “non-union” players?
