One of the quiet realities of coaching...
You pour your heart into hundreds of kids over the years.
Teach them. Push them. Laugh with them.
And then — most of the time — you never see them again.
But every once in a while, you cross paths with one of your old players.
They remember you.
You remember them.
It's often a little surreal.
Honestly... its the best!
I’ve made it a practice to stay in touch with former players who I had a special relationship with.
It just feels good.
It makes the time, energy, and effort feel seen.
No real lesson here.
Just something I’ve been thinking about lately as we are wrapping up our summer soon.

@earl_esmith this is awful.

Has Catching instruction ever been worse? Everyone is teaching the #1knee🗑️ style and yanking the glove to make every pitch look like it was down the middle. It’s really bad and if the Robot Strike Zone is eventually implemented all this training will have been worthless. Oh try to block the music out if you can. #shegone @notgaetti @BobFile @twuench @billdubs @SliderDominate @ROXSystem @BLocsports @ToddPratt07 @GDBJr5 @mikepiazza31 @Pudge_Rodriguez @RVGDag @AMBS_Kernan @SalMarinello

@BradleyGloves A fly ball is often a “miss” by the batter. Most guys I played with are trying to square it up. Line drive or ground ball is ten times more likely to be a hit over a fly ball unless you’re Aaron Judge strong which I’m fairly certain most kids aren’t.

Willie Bloomquist on ASU baseball's talent and team character:
"We don't recruit turds. We recruit good kids...We try to do our homework and bring in kids that are academically oriented and good citizens that want to work hard and get better."
