For some time now, I have restrained myself from speaking publicly on the matter concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. However, it is unfortunate that things have reached this ugly point. I have said it before and I will continue to say it: I place the greater part of the blame on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s siblings. If I were to be in their shoes, immediately after Mazi Nnamdi Kanu abduction, I would reach out to IPOB leadership and worked closely with them to harness its strength and influence. Instead, they turned against the only formidable structure capable of helping their brother and began heaping all kinds of accusations on the organisation best positioned to secure his freedom. When they reduced Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case to a “Kanu Family versus Nigerian Government” matter, I wrote several articles warning against subjecting a global case to a mere family affair. They eventually pushed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to a life sentence and still show no remorse of their actions. Heaven bears me witness that, as an individual, I did everything in my power to raise global awareness for his release. There is no head of state who does not know Emeka Gift through my consistent tweets, especially on Tuesdays. I staged protests in Ivory Coast for the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We wrote petitions to virtually every embassy ever existed in Ivory Coast. We did everything humanly possible to create global awareness and rescue our leader. But our efforts were constantly downplayed and undermined by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s siblings, who continued to accuse the IPOB leadership despite their visible commitment. When Mazi Nnamdi Kanu travelled to Africa, the leadership was not informed. When he was kidnapped, the same leadership was accused of betraying him, and our people were turned against the DOS. It took us years of explanations before our people finally understood that the DOS members were innocent of those accusations. Since his abduction and rendition, his siblings have engaged in continuous sabotage against the very organisation that should be at the forefront of efforts to free their brother. They have been sponsoring a few individuals to keep accusing members of DOS. Recently, I saw Prince Darlington parading documents and accusing Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor. Today, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor has responded with a strong rebuttal, a response that will only worsen the already pitiful situation of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. I want to ask Darlington and his group: Do you think you are helping Mazi Nnamdi Kanu? Why are you expanding his problems? Why continued attacking Ifeanyi Ejiofor even when this man has refused to speak publicly yet you and your group keep launching attack against him. I read his rebuttal and I pity Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Offcouse you don’t accuse Ifeanyi Ejiofor and expect him not to defend himself. Darlington why are you dabbling into matters you know little or nothing about? This is truly unfortunate. To the IPOB leadership, I say: Please do not give up. If you chicken out, these elements will go into hiding and the struggle will die. I plead with you to remain focused. Our people are looking up to you. The leadership must gear up and do whatever it takes to restore Biafra. Avoid distractions. The aim of these people is to shift your focus from the main goal. They will be happy to push the narrative that since the abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, you have achieved nothing. For the past years, while we worked hard to save the struggle from destruction and distance it from the violent activities of Ekpa, the same people claimed we achieved nothing. Therefore, I advise you to stay focused and deliver. Let them continue with whatever they are doing with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We have done our part with every sincerity, and Okike shall always bear us witness. Our people are looking up to you, and I do not want you to disappoint them. Thank you. #EmekaGift
