Nigeria will spend about $11.6 billion servicing its debt in 2026, nearly half of its projected government revenue, President Bola Tinubu said, as he called for an overhaul of a global financial system he said penalises African borrowers. reuters.com/world/africa/n…

I think #Nairobi is exactly what it says it is; one of the world’s great diplomatic capitals. Not every African city can host a summit of this magnitude without a single head of state sleeping in a neighbouring country.
It is not always about nice speeches and red carpets. Meetings of this nature come with enormous diplomatic, logistical and security complexities.
It is always about secure state movement, intelligence coordination, airspace management, accommodation capacity, transport systems, the highest standards of diplomatic protocol, emergency response and ensuring an entire city continues to function while the world’s most protected and influential leaders are in town.
With heads of state, global financiers, diplomats, policymakers and development partners gathered in Nairobi, the Africa Forward Summit 2026 was going to be a big, big test for #Kenya.
I think it delivered. Credit where credit's due.
Cheers to Kenyan tea.🫖☕️

@KennedyWandera_ Nobody lives in a fantasy world like Kenyans they have convinced themselves they are the USA of Africa while having the IQ and competence of Burundi.

@StrenjaDenja Lol Kenya is a failed state my friend you can’t even meet civil servants payroll without a foreign loan. Your whole economy is at the mercy of foreign financial institutions

Milimani Road suddenly has lane marking and the street lights suddenly all work. And that notorious pothole just past Sagret suddenly got attention and was tarmacked. Half-assed, but tarmacked nonetheless.
Why can’t guys do their work for the benefit of fellow citizens? Why does it take visiting dignitaries to remember your work?

@Nakhumicha_S only 3rd worlders care about the UN. Wealthy nations don’t respect the UN

Nairobi is the only United Nations headquarters in the Global South and a growing centre for multilateral diplomacy, climate action and sustainable development. The expansion and modernisation of UNON reflects a shared commitment to a more inclusive and responsive United Nations system, while further strengthening Kenya’s role as a premier hub for international cooperation and global dialogue.
This morning I joined H. E President @WilliamsRuto, H.E @antonioguterres Secretary General United Nations and fellow diplomats during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new United Nations Conference Facilities Project and the commissioning of completed phases of the Gigiri Master Plan at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), held alongside the commencement of the Africa Forward Summit. Today’s ceremony reaffirms Kenya’s position in multilateralism.

At State House Entebbe, I met Mr. Nick Checker, the Senior Bureau Official in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, who is representing President Donald Trump at tomorrow’s swearing-in ceremony, together with his delegation.
I emphasized the need for value addition and industrialisation across Africa. We cannot continue exporting raw materials such as coffee, oil and minerals without processing them. Value addition is crucial for expanding Africa’s GDP, creating jobs and increasing the purchasing power of our people.
I welcome him to Uganda and wish him a fruitful stay.

@kimyamiyaki @zablonorina1 You had me until the last sentence. It’s because of you and me. We, the people are responsible for encouraging and participating in corruption.

I can’t reiterate this enough. The stupid decisions made by these nincompoop leaders with myopic views born of greed, will reverberate in time forever. When American governors waive tax and come up with a myriad of incentives for investors and companies which will hire 5000 or more locals and change the landscape of business forever in certain localities. Our stupid leaders want a cut, now their stupid secretaries want a cut before they are even seen. The level of stupidity is downright elementary level. Africa is in deed without a doubt, the dark continent. We’re never beating the allegations. Ever. 60% of our people sincerely believe the only way out is via crime and dirty deals. This is due to what they have seen. Dirty, ugly, theft of resources people pushed to desperation and pure despair. The city would almost make you believe there is another story. It all around the continent, it’s the same bleak existence. Cause of our leaders.

I once worked for an American company whose annual revenue was nearly 50% of Kenya’s entire GDP.
The company wanted to set up a manufacturing plant in Kenya and even sent its Vice President to explore the opportunity.
Do you know the VP couldn’t even secure a meeting with the Health CS?
Gatekeepers blocked discussions before they could even begin. Everyone wanted their share first.
The VP flew to Ethiopia instead. He was welcomed like a head of state.
Imagine the jobs, technology transfer, exports, taxes, supplier networks, and investor confidence Kenya lost because of a few selfish individuals protecting personal interests.
Dangote has been here before. He ended up setting a massive cement manufacturing plant in Ethiopia.
Those government officials don’t care as long as they can’t see their share.

@Kugompocity @jamesonen Name one successful black nation ir even black city for that matter
English

@jamesonen It's sad to observe this kind of inferiority complex from fellow Africans. I see that all of them believe a country can't prosper without white people, which makes it clear now why their countries have regressed. I really think they are waiting for whites to come save them...
English

Unlike you we chased our whites away that's why you are developed and the rest of us are backward nations. That's just the painful truth 😂
Darkness🌚🌚🌚🇿🇦@ImFrankmiles
@jamesonen It seems like other 53 countries stopped developing after gaining their independence much earlier than the Republic of South Africa 🇿🇦 The envy and jealousy is very loud 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️

I engaged in a constructive dialogue with His Excellency William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya. We reiterated our mutual dedication to enhancing the bilateral relationship between our nations and expressed our hopeful anticipation for a successful Africa Forward Summit 2026.

#ONGOING: Our teams remain actively engaged in a number of interventions, including BEAUTIFICATION, ROAD MAINTENANCE and LIGHTING of key corridors earmarked for the movement of visiting international delegates ahead of the national swearing-in ceremony.
The exercise is coordinated under the National Organising Committee, with the Head of Public Service, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, as the Chief Inspector of works.
She has commended the speed, coordination and commitment exhibited by the teams in delivering on the agreed action points.

@mwalimu_dida @OmaeOkara This is is the level of intelligence of the average Kenyan. We are never leaving the 3rd world status.
English

@OmaeOkara Kikuyu landlords must be forced to plaster the exterior of their buildings. This is uniquely a central kenya thing
English

There should be a regulation that prohibits occupancy of buildings that are not fully finished. Interior and exterior.
Give an ultimatum to existing owners to finish and paint. It’s uncouth to see these kind of buildings which make our towns, cities very ugly unfortunately even Nairobi CBD look very old and uncouth.
Especially sasa umeweka apartments na watu wameishi for 3 years why shouldn’t you finish it?
This are quick wins a city governor can do.

English

@OmaeOkara It’s called an occupancy license, issued by the local fire department at building completion and before occupancy. African Incompetence means we can’t have nice things.
