UCSD graduate students are integral to research at the Salk Institute. A group of Salk faculty have signed a letter supporting their effort to obtain fair compensation that allows them to live near the university. docs.google.com/document/d/1hV…

To understand the brain, we must first understand its parts — the cells. Our scientists together with dozens of #BICCN-supported teams just announced a large step forward toward cataloging cell types in the brain with the most detailed map of the motor cortex ever. #studyBRAIN

@MaxCRoser Plot looks to be mislabeled for Belgium. Numbers at the site indicate that Y-axis values should be dropping from about 12 to 8.7, not the much higher numbers plotted.

This is how CO₂ emissions have changed in Western Europe. • Shown are the last 10 years for which I have data. • Outsourced production is taken into account. In all Western European countries CO₂ emissions have declined.

Excited to share the culminating work of my PhD w/ @ecallaway - we find in vivo evidence of L5 & L6 corticothalamic projections from V1 serving distinct “driving” vs “modulators” functions in the rodent pulvinar (plus intriguing interactions with SC inputs!) - #tweeprint 👇 1/9

@realDonaldTrump @FLOTUS Which treatment will you choose? Behind door number one, your proposal to chug some bleach and some chlorquinone. Behind door number two, fake science and some bogus thing they call Remdesivir. Please let us know which way you go.

Functional Organization for Color Appearance Mechanisms in Primary Visual Cortex biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Our latest color vision work! We find ON and OFF cone-opponent functional domains (COFDs) in V1 that interact as predicted by psychophysical studies of color appearance.

I’m delighted to announce the winner of the scholarship, @ghezae_isaias from UCSB. His early experience with injustice has taken him on a thrilling intellectual path. Read his inspiring story & share in his joy of discovery, borne of pain @BlackInNeuro dropbox.com/s/up01duhl3xjd…

@Random_Shawness @MarchForScience the building blocks of proteins are called amino acids. Proteins are usually the finished product although they can be thought of as building blocks if they are used to build superstructures like the flagellum (the bacteria tail) for example

I'm proud to say that I will be attending Stanford to pursue a fully-funded PhD in Biophysics! As a first-gen, underrepresented student I hope to inspire the next-generation of great leaders and will be doing so as a Stanford VPGE Fellow and NSF Fellow.
