Watched Project Hail Mary with my wife tonight.
The film knows what the heart of the book is and went all in on that aspect of the story. I think it was the right decision.
I thought about taking off a half-star because there were a few things from the book I missed. I love the technical problem solving of an Andy Weir novel. However, if I’m being honest with myself, I’m not at all confident that adding more of the science stuff would have made it a better movie.
Beautiful cinematography. This felt like a Film. And that means something these days. Grieg Fraser is a top three cinematographer.
The movie had real charm, hope, and sincerity. My wife is absolutely not a sci-fi fan and loved it. That also means something.
