@NormOrnstein I suspect they'd seed lower; Julius is also all NBA. I love Kat's character, not soft. Think the coaching put a ceiling on his O, albeit a high one. Made All NBA yet never got to play 5 out. But dumb fouls and myriad defensive lapses hurt as much as the good stretches helped.

Would the Knicks have even made the playoffs much less get as far as they did without KAT? He is a sublime athlete and by every standard, a terrific person. The desire in New York to find scapegoats, from a player to the coach, is both stupid and cringe worthy
Jon Krawczynski@JonKrawczynski

Timeline cleanser because the discourse right now is, frankly, disgusting. Don't like KAT's game? OK. Does he annoy you? Whatever. He's a 5x All-Star, back-to-back conference finals appearances and I've seen up close the heart underneath it all. nytimes.com/athletic/58020…

KY120 United AFT stands in solidarity with students taking action to demand a voice in their education and for our schools to be adequately funded. We applaud them for targeting systemic failures by policy makers, rather than undervalued individual schools or teachers. ( 🧵1/2)

⚖️ WE'RE SUING THE STATE ⚖️ The legacy of the 1989 Rose vs. CBE case that promised an adequate public education has wilted. Now, we're suing the state to revive it. Join us in supporting this landmark KSVT vs. The Commonwealth lawsuit. ✊🏽 ksvt.org/rose

@RottenInDenmark The spillovers in education reform were not helpful. Gave energy to test based accountability, even if that wasn't really the lesson.

Direct pay proposed guidance is out and the rules are largely positive and largely in line with how CPE has envisioned the program operating. Refer to Chirag’s thread here for details on the key provisions (payment schedules, eligibility, transferability, partnerships, etc).
Chirag Lala@CtheLala

Direct pay will be disbursed as a lump sum payment once a project is placed in service and the claim is processed. Energy projects may need bridge financing in the interim, but immediate payment post-construction will give public balance sheets flexibility and reduce the WACC.

Netflix paid an effective federal income tax rate of 0.8% on $10.5 billion in profits from 2018-2021. Those of us paying for Netflix paid a much higher tax rate while making a tiny fraction of their profits. Why should Netflix get millions more in tax breaks in the lame-duck?

What do these two graphs tell you? 1. In terms of levels, unemployment is near historic lows. 2. And in terms of change, it continues to improve at historically rapid rates. I'm struck by the persistent bad news bias in econ reporting that folks aren't celebrating these facts.

@Noahpinion @StacyPatton89 Seoul may have better public infrastructure, but the budget comparisons here are unsound. NYC subway has 700 miles track, compared to 200 in Seoul. Cost of living in NY is 44% higher. MTA budget number includes buses, LIRR and Metro North.

Headline inflation was *zero* in July as gas prices and airfares fell (and gas prices will likely see an even bigger drop next month). Core inflation also took a dive. 1/

Remarkable number. Payroll job growth this month is higher (as a percent of employment) than 93 percent of monthly job numbers since 1980.
