“Public unions hate this democracy in action because they want to force employees to join, coerce dues payments from them, and then provide no option for reconsideration. If teachers think their union is worth keeping, a majority can show up for the vote. Sounds like a good civics lesson for their students.” -WSJ Editorial Board
Wall Street Journal Opinion@WSJopinion

Florida leads again on public unions. Government workers will soon have to show up to vote to keep their union in the state. on.wsj.com/4lOBVe4

Florida remains committed to longstanding constitutional protections for voluntary prayer and religious expression in our public schools. I applaud the Trump administration’s updated guidance that reaffirms those protections for all students, teachers and school personnel. I sent a letter to parents outlining the updated guidance and explaining @EducationFL’s process to safeguard the freedom of religious expression in all of Florida’s public schools.

Florida’s students are thriving because we put students first by providing educational opportunities that best meet their individual needs. Critics often argue that deviating from the status quo will be the demise of public education. That couldn’t be further from the truth and Florida’s success dispels that narrative.

This week on "Freedom to Learn," Florida Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas (@StasiKamoutsas) explained how school choice is expanding options and driving improvement for students statewide. With Florida opting into the federal scholarship tax credit, new funding will allow more students to pursue learning environments and educational resources that best fit their needs.

Today, Florida legislators passed House Bill 1279, a bill that allows school districts to forgo collective bargaining and give immediate pay increases to top-performing teachers assigned to persistently low-performing schools. Thank you to @LeeSchools, Superintendent @Dhatherop, and the Lee County School Board for paving the way for this student-first policy that will be implemented by school districts across the state!

Having guardians in schools is one of the most effective ways to ensure highly trained personnel are in place to respond to an active assailant. HB 757 extends the guardian program to postsecondary institutions, ensuring students have access to safe and secure learning environments. Thank you @michellesalzman and Senator Don Gaetz for leading this important effort to strengthen school safety at Florida’s colleges and universities.
