Don’t dispute a windfall for wealthy already sending their kids to private schools. But wealthy were paying local school district taxes on their expensive home regardless. School districts usually one of the higher categories of property taxes in Texas. That said, I’ve never been in favor of these money recycling schemes.

Parents - ask your teacher or Principal if your child uses @iReady. Find out which classes and how many hours a week. Ask for the data from your child’s use. Open record the district for data on overall effectiveness. Inform yourself because you just might not like the answers.

Every state’s Attorney General should be sending out a letter like to every district where students are walking out of schools protesting. It is incumbent on district Superintendents and BOEs to end this. If a student wants to protest, let them stay home and do it with their parents.

In 2023, I was the first elected official to conduct an in-depth tour of Colony Ridge with law enforcement. What I saw was astounding. A community of what looked to be an illegal immigrant city, about 35 miles outside of Houston. The area was planned to include over 100,000 mobile homes and many poorly constructed houses and shacks, with poor roads, little flood control, and limited law enforcement. With suspicions that cartels were pushing drugs from there, the first thing I did was fund state troopers to patrol the area. I thank AG @KenPaxtonTX for taking strong action in this settlement. We cannot let these cities spring up across Texas.
