@anniedundun I agree to a point but I'd prefer the ABC and government policy re. culture was just focused on funding more good stuff, come what may. If they were always chasing hits that sell a million toys I'm not sure that would be ideal, even if the funds are great.

@anniedundun I haven't heard that. They were in a 3-party negotiation with the BBC and they got the AU broadcast rights. I think everyone looks at this with the benefit of knowing what a mega hit it is, they'd be rightly smashed if they tried to own all merch rights just in case.

Just read that Jon Kudelka died, and even though this place doesn't deserve its status as the best place for me to remember him, it's inherited that honour. He was a great person who I never met, who was among our best cartoonists and posters. I will reread the tea towel tonight.
