@cbusswift The black and white motif? Yes! And I’m not sure it’s a good thing (re: rep, ttpd); however, the added lace and silk elements might hint at a lustful and passionate era (re: Guilty as Sin), which I would LOVE, rather than a sorrowful era (re: The Black Dog). We’ll see I guess!

Movies where a character embarrasses themselves are worse than getting shot. I genuinely have to pause the movie to do a lap around my living room so that I don't jump off a building. Second-hand embarrassment is agony untold.

Well, no. Even if the school provides specific items—which they often don’t meaning poorer children are immediately at a disadvantage having to scrounge up a uniform—the accessories (shoes, backpacks, hair adornment, whatever) become the markers even more than they already are.

School uniforms are a socio-economic leveller. No matter the parent’s financial situation, the child goes to school in the same clothes as his/her peers. Surely allowing tracksuits will lead to a designer fashion show and the ridicule and bullying of poorer kids?

You are teaching early kindergarteners about cacti. Do you teach them a weird plural rule and "cacti" or do you say 'screw Latin' and teach them "cactuses" which helps them learn a general plural rule and which the internet tells me is technically acceptable.

Nominative: ὀκτώποδες
Genitive: ὀκτωπόδων
Dative: ὀκτώποσι(ν)
Accusative: ὀκτώποδας
Vocative: ὀκτώποδες
Just use English rules.

I taught the word pair foreign & domestic today. Students linked the words immigrate and import with the word foreign. Students wrote phrases like domestic flight and domestic violence as well. Discussed domestic vs international flights. This isn't a fun phrase to discuss, but students hear about it on tv. From a language standpoint it is beneficial to discuss the differences in how the word domestic is used in the phrases domestic flight vs domestic violence. First day back from break and we get right back to nerding out on words.
