@NkululekoMhlaba If it’s done with laws that factors race, it’s a race-based laws. A race-based law is racist by definition. Calling it redress or transformation or lawful discrimination or whatever new term will be coined tomorrow won’t change the fact that it is, fundamentally, racist.

David fails to understand the purpose behind B-BBEE, you cannot condemn Apartheid and not want redress to the race based injustice of the past. Correcting the Unjust Racist dispossession of Black South Africans cannot and will never be Racism 🤔
The Common Sense@CommonSense_ZA

David Ansara argues South Africa’s refusal to allow Starlink entry without B-BBEE concessions exposes the contradiction between its claim to non-racialism and its persistence with race-based economic policy. f.mtr.cool/akxkyfjwfn

@JMaedzenge @elonmusk @RiseAgainstEvil The crimes of the white man is somehow revolting, but the black man murdering more than an active warzone is all good in your book. Smells a bit racist chief.

On March 6, 2009, in Allanridge, Free State, South Africa, 78-year-old Alice Lotter and her 57-year-old daughter Helen were tortured for over 3 hours by their gardener Joseph and accomplices. Coroner Dr. Horst Bumba's court testimony: Helen's cervix/uterus removed, vagina/anus stabbed with a broken beer bottle, large fat pieces sliced off her body, breasts partially cut, front teeth smashed, body covered in stab and bruise wounds. Alice's blood was used to write "Kill the Boer" on the walls. Alice identified Joseph before she died. This was no ordinary crime. It was savage, hate-filled torture of two defenceless women on their own property.

After AfriForum ensured that convicted criminal Julius "Kill the Boer" Malema is sentenced to 5 years in prison for firing an assault rifle into the air at a rally, the official Spokesperson for President Ramaphosa attacked the civil rights organisation as a "danger to democracy". With this statement, the Presidency seems to reject the idea of equality before the law for all 🚩 I will be sure to add that to AfriForum's annual report on the targeting of minorities and deteriorating human rights situation in South Africa. This radical rhetoric is coming from the same regime that launched a high treason investigation in 2025 into Afrikaner organisations that are critical of the government. Their desperate intimidation tactics won't work. Fikile Mbalula's disastrous lawyer's letter to AfriForum and late night threatening posts on X should have taught the ANC that.

@ASZulu @Tessa_Dooms In fact almost none of them are willing to admit that there is an element brutality in farm attack far out stripping the "regular" crime they keep on about.

@atkinsmike1 I acknowledge the problem with violent crime and with violence in general. I am old enough to remember the violence of apartheid, in my childhood town police used whips to chase black people after curfew. An uncle whipped a female farm worker. It is our legacy.

No one needs to expand on why Temu Amin, who purged you from a party you gave your whole being to for years, is not above the law. But on this benefit thing, the EFF doesn't have the financial issues that the ANC has. Why is it not doing something meaningful for black people with its resources beyond the small projects here and there? Why is it waiting to assume power first?

@duncanreyburn @elonmusk You a two others were going to be executed with 1 bullet? You made a poor judgment that day with your threat assessment. This is not an event to brag about. You’re right, you should be dead, and you would have been the only victim …because you make dumb, irrational decisions.

Three men with a single gun and two knives between them broke into my home in Pretoria twenty years ago. I was held captive with those I was living with. After nearly two hours, aware that I and others were likely to be executed, I found a gap, grabbed a stupidly inadequate shower curtain pole as a weapon, and fought back. Actually, that pole turned out to be a better weapon than I expected. To cut a rather messy story short, in the midst of a flurry of activity, I got shot at, at close range. By God’s mercy, I didn’t get hit. I should be dead, honestly, given that the gun was fired so close, just over a metre away, but the bullet miraculously ended up embedded in the wall opposite me. (I still can’t explain this although I have more speculations about the presence of the supernatural now than I did before this happened to me.) I continued in close combat because, thank heavens, that one bullet was the only one the attackers had. Unfortunately, one of them stabbed me (adrenaline is amazing — I only realised this later), but I still managed to chase them out of the house. (Thumping miscreants at full force with a steel pole worked wonders.) A few years later, I saw a photograph of the gunman who’d shot at me in a newspaper — he was a Mozambican who’d been sentenced to life in prison for murdering someone else (RIP) who lived not far from me. So many of my friends have stories like this, and worse. Fighting to live is fine. And that’s all I’m gonna say on this.

Under South Africa's Employment Equity policy, every employer with more than 50 staff must comply with RACIAL quota targets set by the government. Under these rules, in roles such as "skilled technicians" white men are limited to a quota of just 4.1%. Blatant discrimination.

Andrej karpathy called out every annoying thing ai coding agents do wrong assumptions. bloated abstractions. 1000 lines when 100 would do. touching code it was never asked to touch we've all felt this pain so someone took his observations and turned them into a single CLAUDE.md file you can drop into any project four rules that fix everything he described: think before coding. ask when confused. write the simplest thing that works. only touch what the task requires. define success criteria. loop until done not official. not from karpathy himself. just a dev who read his tweet and actually did something about it and honestly? it works github.com/forrestchang/a…

South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!
DogeDesigner@cb_doge

Why Elon Musk is RIGHT to fight South Africa’s racist rules blocking Starlink? Imagine this: Long ago, South Africa had very unfair laws called apartheid. They treated Black people badly and kept them from good jobs and money. When those bad laws ended, the country made new rules (called B-BBEE) to help Black people get a fair share of business. The idea was good – like a big helping hand. But now? For companies like Starlink to sell fast internet, they MUST give away 30% of their business to Black partners. Just because of skin color. Elon Musk was born in South Africa. He left as a teen to chase big dreams. Today, his company SpaceX wants to bring Starlink – super fast satellite internet – to South Africa. But the rules say no unless they give up part of the company. Elon said it right: “Starlink is not allowed because I’m not Black.” SpaceX promised to spend about $30 million (that’s 500 million rand!) to give FREE high-speed internet to 5,000 rural schools. That helps over 2.4 MILLION kids every year learn better, get jobs later, and have a brighter future. Real help for the people who need it most! Starlink already works in about 24 other African countries. Villages there now have internet for school, doctors, and business. South Africa’s villages are missing out because of these racist rules. Elon isn’t asking for special favors. He just wants fair play so Starlink can connect everyone fast. Internet = education, jobs, hope. Why hold back millions of kids over rules that pick by race and color?
