I’m an unapologetic supporter of school choice, including independent schools. I benefited from attending both a small rural public school (nine grades in three classrooms with three teachers,) and wonderful independent schools.
Proud to say that after being an RCAF pilot, my father was an independent school head.
I have never engaged in class warfare politics. I’ve never screamed that we should “eat the damn rich!” Not have I ever campaigned against independent schools, demanding that they be defunded, as do many (most?) on the left.
IMO class warfare politics, including literal “eat the rich” rhetoric, is wrong, divisive, and demagogic. It’s also deeply hypocritical when coming from a party led by wealthy, privileged, independent school educated elites.
