Today we remember the 52 people who were killed, the people who were injured and affected, the heroes who helped and those who lost loved ones because of the terrible events twenty years ago on the 7th of July 2005 in London. #LondonBombings #NeverForget #7July

Bishop Alan was never afraid to stand up for those on the margins, those that felt they were being ignored by the church. He was a man of prophetic spirit, reaching out where he saw injustice and speaking up when he witnessed the abuse of power. I was deeply saddened to hear of his death today. He was approaching retirement and the sudden loss will be a shock to his family, the diocese of Oxford and the wider church. He leaves behind a huge gap and an important legacy. We have much to learn from his life and his courage. In our pain, it is Jesus that draws near and mourns with us. I hold Bishop Alan’s whole family, especially Lucy, in my prayers. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

I am really very extremely sad and deeply upset at Alan Wilson’s sudden & untimely death. Alan was a beacon of independent light for quite some time in the @churchofengland College of Bishops. He was a prophet in an episcopal culture that has, for at least 20 years, been dominated by the silence that results from false collegiality & an inability to stand up to the bullies of our common life together. Alan was a true friend of all in the #LGBTQIA+ community of the church & beyond & of all those who have suffered abuse @churchofengland & the reabuse that our unjust and unrepentant and unreformed culture subjects survivors to. Alan was also an immense and significant personal support to me. When I was subjected to an CDM for whistleblowing about blatant homophobia in another parish @dioceseoflondon he phoned me to offer any support he could. He was both deeply pastoral towards me and excellent in offering advice about the process. We talked at least once a week over a period of a year. I am deeply indebted to him personally and will miss him immensely. With many many prayers for Lucy and their children and for @rosieswiss who worked so closely with him. May Alan be received into Christ’s fully just, diverse, colourful & eternal rainbow Reign of which he was a trailblazer in his ministry. 🌈🙏🏾

I am devastated by the loss of Bishop Alan Wilson, who was a constant source of support and encouragement during my darkest times. He provided pastoral care and comfort, guiding me through challenges with unwavering kindness. His sudden passing has left me profoundly saddened. Bishop Alan's advocacy for justice and inclusivity, especially within the Church, was a beacon of light in a culture marked by silence and injustice. He stood as a friend and ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and survivors of abuse, offering unwavering support and understanding. Personally, his guidance and support were invaluable to me during a difficult period, demonstrating both pastoral care and practical wisdom. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and colleagues during this difficult time. May Bishop Alan rest in peace, embraced by the full spectrum of Christ's love and acceptance, a legacy he championed throughout his ministry. 🌈🙏 @Rgt71Robert @rosieswiss

Alan was the independent mind/voice in CofE episcopate. His loss is huge and will be widely felt. He was a person of great integrity, extraordinary intellect, enormous compassion, outspoken, brave, wickedly funny, courageous, kind; a huge support to so many. We loved him so much.

Absolutely gutting to hear of the death of the Bishop of Buckingham, Alan Wilson this evening. A good and kind man who had that gift so very rare on the Bench: courage. Do pray for him and those who mourn him.
