Just because you haven't seen any doesn't mean they don't happen. There have been plenty documented in Church History.
Also, the translation of the Book of Mormon is proof that Joseph Smith was a prophet. When one reads it and asks the Lord with real intent to know if it's true, they can receive an answer from the Lord.

Every post-hoc defence of rood screens comes down essentially to a view that *something* (the priest, the Eucharist, the worship etc) is too holy for the congregants, but this is not the faith practiced by the apostles. All the evidence we have of the church during the Roman era shows it to be one where the community gathered like an extended family, sharing in the presence of God together, not arbitrating who deserved to be in the presence and who didn't.

When Jesus died on the cross, the Temple curtain dividing the people from the presence of God was torn down, which is why we've erected a massive rood screen to separate the great unwashed from the presence of God because they don't deserve it. Make it make sense.
