I’m not saying you should read this longer essay I wrote on it last year but I put in a lot of effort into it including translating so many mandarin source texts. There is simply too much of this nonsense in Nigeria and across Africa. It is the critical difference between the continent and Asia and explains so much of the poverty you see. Without this, you’re just growing without any development whatsoever. 1914reader.com/p/the-men-who-…

This - from The Economist - is the first time this specific topic has been brought up in any major media in relation to Dangote. A complete lack of technological learning, upgrading or mastery after 20yrs of govt protection. Every other criticism I make of Dangote you can hang it on this one. It is utterly utterly shameful.

@afrisagacity Many parallel truths can co exist: ☑️ We need a better system in Nigeria. ☑️ Many Nigerias have short-term memory when dealing with their oppressors (religious and otherwise). ☑️ Religion is not a scam.

I just saw this lovely VIDEO of a Nigerian man who lives in Europe. He returned to Nigeria and began shuttling public buses to preach against religion and sensitize Nigerians to VOTE RIGHT in 2027! I deeply LOVE THIS! Can Nigerians living in working countries return to sensitize Nigerians back home this way? Pls, make this VIDEO go viral!✍️

@youraveragejeet @ogbonigwe1 Not entirely correct. The data centres for most ISPs are in those top states. For example, - hypothetically you use MTN in Ksatina to open an app, your signal is touted to MTN's data centre in Abuja, and then to the wider Internet.

@_OvalDesigns The interesting thing is that other items in this list are also after thoughts. No trees. Landscape is purely concrete. Shade? What's that? Compounds' outdoors rarely have breathing space from the fence. Large or small land, landlords want all space filled with rooms.

@GbeleePaul Great insight. I notice Nestlé water tastes slightly salty in a satisfying way. I assume it's TDS will be on the higher range of close to 150.

This is TDS Meter! TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLID METER! You see some of you are wasting money in your houses/offices you don’t even know. Well at the end of this write up you should know how much you have wasted. Some days/weeks ago a video is circulating online about testing Eva and some table water with a tester but is showing 120ppm some shows 90ppm and they claim the water is bad for drinking. Let’s educate ourselves The device they are using to test the water is called TDS Meter, the word TDS Total dissolved Solid this mean all the stuff dissolved in water that is not pure H2O things like minerals, salts, metals etc It doesn't directly count the solids. Instead, it sends a tiny electrical current between two probes and measures how well the water conducts electricity (conductivity). More dissolved ions = higher conductivity = higher TDS reading. The result shows up in ppm (parts per million) or sometimes mg/L. If you pour tap or Normal drinking water in a cup and put electric wire it will shock because of the minerals and other particles inside this what the meter does it will send tiny electric current then see how sensitive the water is. It will be showing something like: 0–50 ppm: Very pure (like distilled or RO water) 50–150 ppm: Good for most drinking water (many bottled waters sit here) 150–500 ppm: Normal tap water range in many places; still usually safe 500–1000: ppm Starts tasting "mineral-y" or salty; might want filtration 1000 ppm: Often not great for drinking long-term This means each number shows on the meter means one thing. If you are using TUBULAR Battery you will understand that we use distill water to maintain the battery if the water level is low. And some of you us wasting this distill water! You see that water coming out from your AC pipe yes, if you use TDS meter to measure it, most of it will read 005 ( best for maintaining battery water level!) 5 liters is 2,500 to 5,000 naira and you should calculate how much you waste.🤣 You see the Eva water showing 90ppm it is safe for drinking because it has mineral that benefit your body is inside it. The one reading 0.04 ppm is equals to distill water which has zero minerals which is not safe for drinking on a long run. You know if mineral in your body reduce to much there will be issue!

"Recently, I have begun to wonder if LLM-writing faces a similar challenge. It’s always “more attractive than average,” because all of the flaws of normal human writing have been averaged out. But it's also missing the unusual taste and style of the best human writers..."
Macken@MackenMurphy

There’s a well-known phenomenon in the facial aesthetics literature whereby “average faces” (that is, faces formed by superimposing many faces atop one another) tend to be more attractive than the average person. This may be counterintuitive, but it makes sense when you consider the following: Individual faces are all slightly flawed, from a beauty perspective, in idiosyncratic ways. And when you average lots of faces, you average out all of these minor issues. So, an “average face” is errorless and looks quite pleasant as a result. However, another thing you’ll notice about these “average faces” is that none of them could be models. They’re more attractive than the average human, yes, but less attractive than the most attractive humans. This is because extremely attractive faces tend to have certain features that are, mathematically, extreme. (For example, male models tend to have lower-set brows and larger jawbones than you would see in any average face.) Recently, I have begun to wonder if LLM-writing faces a similar challenge. It’s always “more attractive than average,” because all of the flaws of normal human writing have been averaged out. But it's also missing the unusual taste and style of the best human writers I've read. In my experience, it's only ever 85%-good; like an "average face," it's never flawed, but equally, it's never exceptionally beautiful.
