@TonySeruga I think her spontaneous stupidity is a good thing. 99% of the time we are subject to thoroughly vetted talking points. It’s nice to hear her honest dumb-assery.

AOC's historical illiteracy is genuinely staggering even by her own low bar. The Senate was established in 1789 under the Constitution — Jim Crow laws didn't emerge until the late 19th century, roughly a hundred years later. She's off by an entire century and a completely different era of American history.
What makes this particularly revealing isn't just the factual error — it's the pattern. She operates from a mental model where every American institution must be retroactively explained through the lens of racial oppression, so she just confidently asserts it as fact without even a cursory fact-check.
The Senate wasn't "founded on Jim Crow." Jim Crow was a post-Reconstruction system of state and local laws. The Senate's structure — two per state — was a compromise between large and small states at the Constitutional Convention. You can critique that compromise on federalist grounds all day, but calling it Jim Crow is just making things up.
It's the intellectual equivalent of saying the Roman Empire was founded on TikTok algorithms. Wrong century, wrong concept, wrong everything — but it feels right to her audience, and that's all that matters.
The woman graduated from Boston University with a degree in economics and international relations. You'd think somewhere in those four years someone would have made her crack open a history book.

@jimiuorio Everyone is so busy with the my side vs your side BS that they’re unable to agree on the obvious things that should be indisputable. The fraud is outrageous, period. As a country, we are turning into a joke right before our eyes.

Open invitation to anyone who wants to respectfully debate this? I can’t imagine what the argument would be…

Casual reminder that Nick Shirley conclusively exposed massive fraud in Minnesota and California and thier reaction was to vilify him and make it illegal for anyone else to expose fraud…

@PaulGoldEagle Seriously Jess, why would you suddenly expect him to follow through on something he says, now?

@macrojack21 Over time - track record stands for itself. Alternatively, total stock market index? To me, same thing. I have bond exposure but thats stupid.

@eodnhoj77 I like the idea of living below means and starting as early as possible. Im not as convinced about younger people using SPY as their primary savings account though

Lahn, the GOP nominee for Iowa governor and a Siouxland native, called on Democratic nominee Rob Sand to join him in "six Lincoln Douglas style debates." Last month Sand called for 4 debates spread across Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Des Moines and Sioux City.

@jakejakeny At least among white women. If that’s the category, probably need to include Killary in the mix.

@jakejakeny She leaves an impressive legacy. It’s crazy that some who is so unlikable was able to win public office. Second only to Elizabeth Warren perhaps?

I didn’t know there was a market for professional castrators, but good luck with your new career Katie.

Why did it take one young man with a camera to uncover what government inspectors failed to discover for decades? It’s simple.
Washington pays 90% of Medicaid expansion costs. To the states, it's basically free money, so they have zero incentive to check who's actually eligible for these benefits. Make it a 50-50 split between the federal government and the states, and you'll see states taking an interest in fraud real fast.

@AzPetrich @Suzierizzo1 I’m sure the kind of person who is willing to murder would be deterred from doing so with a firearm if only we had more “limits”

@sarrah_bellus @angie_primm Duh. Maybe it’s because our national intelligence agencies own our government?
