I could trade in my beautiful Tesla Model S Plaid with HW3 and the $15,000 FSD package for a Model Y Performance, yet I’d have to pay $99 per month for FSD Supervised on AI4 hardware.

@TeslaTrip @SawyerMerritt Google started on Autonomous Vehicles 22 years ago. During that time they collected investment based on it being delivered in a much shorter timeframe. The difference between Tesla and Google/Waymo is Tesla is doing everything in public and delivering incremental value.

What will matter is that they launched, and then scaled a safe service. The people complaining that Tesla launched with only one robotaxi in Dallas and Houston are the same ones dismissing the rollout as a “stock pump.” So which is it? Too fast to be credible, or too small to matter? lol. At the end of the day, Tesla is heads down trying to scale this thing and get ready for Cybercab. The fact that Tesla is starting with Unsupervised rides in Dallas and Houston I think is a notable step forward, and could mean a more accelerated Cybercab rollout than most think.

@jabbaman202412 @SawyerMerritt @JoeTegtmeyer NHTSA doesn’t really watch, they react to consumer complaints. They don’t care about what Tesla does until they get enough seemingly credible complaints to take action. Tesla haters can hurt Tesla through false complaints, but first they have to buy a car.

Agreed this isn't ideal. We need to better indicate "how much you should expect to get for your money" To be really really clear: if you're hitting limits in T3 Chat, you've probably cost us more than $8. We don't have any special deals for image gen stuff. Hard reality is that image generation is expensive. The $8 tier is not viable if you intend to use T3 Chat primarily for image generation. It's meant to be a "good enough for general llm usage" tier. $1 of API spend gets you 7 images. That's just what it costs - nothing we can do about that. Roughly speaking, on the $8 tier you currently get ~$0.40 every 4 hour window, plus $4 of overage credit. Most users hitting limits have cost us over $20. On the $50 tier, it's $1.50 every 4 hours plus $30 as "overage". You have to cost us nearly $40 before you see any limits. We will update UI to make these things clearer going forward. Hard line to walk between "generous" and "bankruptcy" 🙃 I can give you a free month of Premium if you want to test it out. It's specifically designed for heavy usage for creative work, I built it to make thumbnails easier for me and my team lol

Why is the credits system so complicated? Why not just show exactly how many images I can generate? Right now it feels very random: I generate one image, then I’m out of credits, then maybe tomorrow I can generate another. At $8/month, I just want a clear counter so I know how many images I have left. I’d also like to know roughly how many images the $50/month tier includes, so I can see whether upgrading is worth it or not. cc @theo @t3dotchat @r_marked @jullerino

NEWS: Dutch regulators (RDW), the key authority that would clear the path for Tesla FSD approval across much of Europe, has issued a response to @Tesla’s 𝕏 post today. "We know that Tesla's application has the interest of many people. The RDW gets a lot of (media) questions about this. Given this great interest and the many speculations, we would like to give a short response to Tesla's message and request. Normally, we never make statements about requests from manufacturers because of the market-sensitive information. Assessment process: In the message, Tesla states that they are in the final phase of the assessment process. That's right, Tesla and the RDW are currently going through the final stages of the assessment process. About 18 months ago, the joint intensive testing program began. During the term and in this final phase, the RDW thoroughly looks at the test results and analyzes the data. During this final phase, our inspectors will review all data and test results and, after completion of this process, a decision will be made on the approval of the driver's assistance system FSD Supervised. For the RDW, (traffic) safety is paramount."

NEWS: Tesla says that the RDW has communicated that FSD (Supervised) will be approved in the Netherlands on April 10th, which would clear the path for approval in other European countries. Tesla added that they've completed over 13,000 customer FSD (Supervised) ride-alongs over the past few months, as well as: • 4,500+ track test scenario executions • Thousands of pages of written documentation for 400+ compliance requirements • Dozens of research studies into safety performance/results It would be a huge deal if approval actually comes on April 10th. Fingers crossed!
Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa@teslaeurope

Together with RDW, we have officially completed the final vehicle testing phase for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and have submitted all documentation required for the UN R-171 approval + Article 39 exemptions. The RDW team is now reviewing the documentation and test results package internally. They have communicated the expected approval for Netherlands date of 4/10, shifting from 3/20 previously and we look forward to successful completion of this cooperation.  Following the Netherlands’ approval, European countries will be able to recognize this approval nationally. We are anticipating a possible EU-wide approval during the summer. Over the past 18 months, this approval has involved a series of intense documentation, development, testing, research & audits. Including but certainly not limited to: – 1,600,000+ km of FSD (Supervised) testing on EU roads – 13,000+ customer sales ride-alongs – 4,500+ track test scenario executions – Thousands of pages of written documentation for 400+ compliance requirements – Dozens of research studies into safety performance/results We're extremely proud of the work conducted with the RDW team up until this point. We very much look forward to the approval in April, and sharing FSD (Supervised) with our patient EU customers!

Thinking through non-domestic surveillance. I have accepted that the US military is going to do some amount of surveillance on foreigners, and I know foreign governments try to do it to us, but I still don't like it. I think it is very important that society thinks through the consequences of this; perhaps the single principle I care most about for AI is that it is democratized, and I can see surveillance making that worse. On the other hand, I also respect the democratic process. I don't think this is up to me to decide.

@briandstone Don’t worry with this much interest Tesla can manage the demand and can always test moving people up in the cue to assess how serious buyers are. They aren’t stupid. The first time Tesla said we will deliver a $50k truck and then said just kidding it’s $80k.

Due to the delivery timeline of the new Cybertruck variant I keep seeing idiots with FOMO spending $250 to reserve a vehicle that they have zero intention of taking delivery of, just to say “Hey, I’m getting one too!!” What they’re not taking into consideration is what this does to Tesla. It artificially bumps out delivery times and has them committing to materials from suppliers to fulfill all of these orders, only for you to back out and burn $250 and waste their time. This is just like 2019 when people were preordering 10 Cybertrucks because they’re going to have a fleet of autonomous trucks , even though they never could afford a half million dollars of trucks in any possible situation. If you have zero intention of taking delivery , or have some insane expectation of unannounced features that will be incorporated in this truck in 2027 and you’ll get some super deal, you’re crazy! It’s not going to happen. Don’t waste your time or Teslas time. Rant over.
