@erinleeauthor @SDDonovan Honestly, realizing that is a huge step as a writer. It's amazing how much stronger a story becomes when the characters feel fully lived-in. Do you still use character dossiers for every manuscript now?

@SusanSavageLee1 This is why I don't like fantasy. According to my writer's group, it's supposed to contain a million of those tiny details.

How much worldbuilding is too much in a novel? An excessive amount of detail with no clear purpose IMO #writingq #WritingCommunity

@StevenTBoers63 I love tropes and typical stuff but I would love it if I encountered something like this as well.

Writing thought: I want to someday make a story that intentionally goes against typical story structures. I don't know what it would be yet, but I think it'd be a fun challenge.

@Tim_Denning And I'm always on autopilot during those early hours and the work almost gets done in a blur. Those hours are special.

There’s something special about 6am-9am. Most people are either sleeping or engaging in some unnecessary morning routine. These 3 hours are sacred. They can be used to build a side project. And that’s the very thing that can free you from a life you’re not satisfied with.

@AlanBreenAuthor I'm amazing at how much I've learned about writing simply by being on social media. I can't believe the things I did even last year that are so blatantly wrong to me now.

It's strange to me how few discussions there are over writing craft on X. Most of the time it's people complaining about the "show, don't tell" rule. Where are my fellow writers who want to nerd out over plot structure and pacing?

I contacted my fave babysitter as a kid to tell her I’d written a novel & one of the characters was inspired by her kindness. She was suspicious & stopped responding before I had a chance. She didn't even remember me. I get being on guard, you have to be online. Just a bummer.

@erinleeauthor @SDDonovan That is such a lightbulb moment! Character dossiers really do bridge that gap between "amateur" and "excellent." As a beta reader, I’d love to help you work through that first half if you're looking for more feedback!

If you're a writer who needs a car, but you also need to save money so you can write more, get a two-door Honda Civic. They are cheap, cute as hell, and last forever. I had my Civic for 11 years and put over 200,000 mi on it.
