Thank you for all of your messages and calls on the show today on @LBC 🙏🏼 We spoke politics. We spoke NHS. AND we talked about assisted dying. I wanted to talk about this. I have decided that if it is possible to do so, and in the correct circumstances I would choose assisted dying. I told the story about my Mum. We were very close. Always together, she lived with me all through my adult life, until 2017 when she died of terminal cancer. She was in a lot of pain. She died at home with us. She, like everyone else, wasn't given a choice of how to die. In Holland assisted dying is legal. In the UK it is not. If you assist someone even to go to Switzerland to the Dignitas clinic then you could be prosecuted for murder or manslaughter. Every single call today, and thank you for trusting me with your raw stories, said they hoped a law would be passed in the UK in favour of assisted dying (with strict controls).
