SCAM ALERT in Vietnam Grab was excellent in Hanoi and Da Nang. But at Phu Quoc airport? Totally pathetic experience. People outside the airport were literally carrying phones with Grab wallpapers/photos and approaching passengers like it’s some bus terminal. Worst part? 4 different drivers accepted my ride and didn’t move an inch. Then another couple of “Grab-looking” people came and quoted almost 3x the app fare. Looks like a coordinated setup: someone accepts your ride, doesn’t move, you get frustrated, and then the local guys outside push you into paying more. Be very careful at Phu Quoc airport. Use only the actual app ride, verify car number/driver details, and don’t fall for anyone waving a “Grab” photo on their phone.

Bad experience at Malabar - Tried selling today..went at 11.45 apx. The employee delayed the process deliberately..till then rates reduced even more..then they accepted giving me new reduced rates..took 1-2 hrs almost..(hence denied due to difference) Will sell later to my local jeweller only..he quotes same as 2% from kalyan/malabar rates.. #ccgeeks @Malabartweets

This is the first time people in Vietnam....people here tried to scam us. Hanoi was very welcoming and helpful but Da Nang is extremely commercial and people will try to scam you. Be very careful.

@ankurmittal One of my family member got an email saying application was rejected due to internal reasons, but the card was delivered within a week after receiving the email. Very weird on how they rejected via email and suddenly got a blue dart sms with tracking number.

A friend has applied for HSBC Travel One. His card was declined stating that the Annual Income is less than the threshold, though his salary is in 8 digits 🤦

This is exactly why hotel status actually matters during vacations. Reached the hotel at 9 AM and Accor Platinum did its magic. Early check-in at 9 AM. Suite upgrade at 9 AM. Room ready. Welcome drinks ready. Everything sorted before we even asked. This is why Accor Platinum remains one of my favorite hotel statuses. Some benefits look small on paper, but feel massive when you are actually traveling.

Giving below my experience of buying USD for my upcoming trip, and how I got the best deal on that! 🕵🏼‍♂️ Based on the two posts I had saved in my bookmarks (given in first 2 comments), I was comparing Thomas Cook (TK) & BookMyForex (BMF). 🤼‍♂️ BMF was cheaper (₹94.8), and were offering ₹1,000 cashback. TK was giving a rate of ₹95.4. But TK gives a favourable MCC. 💻 I filled-up my details on TK page, but didn't buy. Sure enough, I got the call from them. They offered a rate of ₹95.0. 🏇🏼 I sent them a screenshot of BMF. They gave me ₹94.75 and some 1000 (useless) TK points. 😳 They asked me to pay a deposit to lock the prices. I paid and MCC turned out to be 6051 (forex) which is not eligible on most cards. 😱 🤷🏼‍♂️ I was locked. No where to go. Chose to pick forex from their nearby branch. 🥺 Did a MCC scan of the UPI QR sticker there ... It was 6051. For Credit Cards, they send links. 🤞🏼 Asked them to send a links for ₹50 for test transaction. Called the bank full of anxiety. 🥹 MCC was 4722 (travel agency)! 💪🏼 Got 2x on TravelOne i.e. 8.8% Accor money. Paid 1.7% surcharge. 🏆 Net 7% in points! 👉🏼 Points will be used to settle my expenses during my trip!
