@MVGutierrezMD @DGlaucomflecken @UHC Today, they denied a medication as “experimental” for my pediatric patient. It’s the only FDA approved medication for this indication AND it’s a continuation of therapy, not a new drug for the pt. Make it make sense

Anyone ever win a peer to peer with @UHC ? Today they went with, “You’re academic & too smart for me. They didn’t hire me to look at data, so why don’t I deny & you can appeal & talk to someone else”

🧬🩺I am excited to share this manuscript which describes using transmission disequilibrium testing across the genome to find genes important in childhood-onset SLE. 🧬This was truly a #TeamScience effort, led by an amazing #pedsrheum fellow Dr. Vazzana nature.com/articles/s4143…

@GoodishIntent MAS due to Still’s is definitely high on the ddx, esp if ESR is inappropriately low. Can send sIL2R and IL-18 to help further clarify. MAS can also be due to infection. Anakinra trial may be helpful

@DGlaucomflecken On my first clinical rotation, I went to the nurses station and accidentally introduced myself as “Hi, my name is medical student...” 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

So the key to a good “knock knock hi” as a med student on the first day of a rotation: 1. Must say “knock knock” instead of actually knocking. You are a med student and haven’t earned the right to touch anything 2. Bow head slightly to show you are subservient to others

@jaymehtamd Our group tends to still do etanercept OR if adalimumab, with methotrexate for this reason. How many are you seeing with anti-adalimumab antibodies?

#RheumTwitter: Back when citrate-free adalimumab came out, our group shifted hard to it (from etanercept) for our new TNFi starts. Now that we're seeing so many with anti-adalimumab antibodies, we’re rethinking that. Anyone else going through a similar yo-yo?
