I completely agree with her assessment that “Claude has regressed to the point it cannot be trusted to perform complex engineering”. There are two problems with building businesses on top of frontier models. The first is the cost and value capture. The frontier labs are aiming to capture the value that they create and become the new Google, Facebook where, in the past, you would raise venture money to scale your SaaS and you would spend marginally all of it on CPC ads for customers acquisition. Then all that value accrues to Google/Facebook stock. The goal with the frontier labs is capture all that value instead. There is no incentive to bring costs down or democratize access, that’s going to have to come from innovation outside those labs. The second is the “they’re not going to let us have this” problem. (phrase coined by @androolloyd in our discussions/strategizing about this around the turn of the new year) Opus 4.5 was good enough that you could actually make serious progress with it. Now that they’ve gotten everyone hooked on crack, they’ve diluted the package. It’s been brutal for over a month. The amount of money we’ve spent on the API for this degraded product makes me sick. They have completely nerfed it and there’s a good chance Mythos is just them re-releasing an unquantized version of the same/similar thing that we already had, just in a way that’s more economically sustainable for them. And which is rumoured to be gatekept by organization. If you’re operating in this field you have to take these dynamics into account and act accordingly.

AMD Senior AI Director confirms Claude has been nerfed. She analyzed Claude's session logs from Janurary to March: > median thinking dropped from ~2,200 to ~600 chars > API requests went up 80x from Feb to Mar. less thinking and failed attempts meaning more retries, burning more tokens, and spending more on tokens > reads-per-edit dropped from 6.6x → 2.0x. model stops researching code before touching it. > model tried to bail out or ask "should i continue" 173 times in 17 days (0 times before March 8). > self-contradiction in reasoning ("oh wait, actually...") tripled. > conventions like CLAUDE.md get ignored because there's less thinking budget to cross-check edits > 5pm and 7pm PST are the worst hours, late night is significantly better. this means the thinking allocation is most likely GPU-load-sensitive.

After 30+ years of signing windows drivers, we have been locked out of driver signing like many other companies. In a word, the disrespect and disregard with which MSFT is treating IHVs and ISVs is stunning. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s because we didn’t read our emails or submit the right verification paperwork. Cuz we did all that back in October. And this month, we were suddenly and without any warning locked out. Support said they’d “do their best” to let us know “within 90 days” if we’re good enough to get back on. In the meantime, many thousands of desktops and instruments are not being updated, cuz we can’t sign drivers. Awesome job, Microsoft. Thanks.

@koylanai yup, got the same yesterday. told it to undo the latest changes which broke features instead of fixing bugs, and it wiped all the uncommitted work. previously, undoing would make it walk back the changes in code.

Y no pasará nada

Expectation: the age of the IDE is over Reality: we’re going to need a bigger IDE (imo). It just looks very different because humans now move upwards and program at a higher level - the basic unit of interest is not one file but one agent. It’s still programming.
Andrej Karpathy@karpathy

@nummanali tmux grids are awesome, but i feel a need to have a proper "agent command center" IDE for teams of them, which I could maximize per monitor. E.g. I want to see/hide toggle them, see if any are idle, pop open related tools (e.g. terminal), stats (usage), etc.

To help EU Inc. companies compete for the best people, employee stock options will be simpler to offer and easier to manage across borders. We will also fully digitalise insolvency procedures and introduce a fast-track insolvency process for startups. So that EU entrepreneurs can start again, more easily.

My current agentic workflow is about 5x faster, better quality, I understand the system better, and I’m having fun again. My previous workflows have left me exhausted, overwhelmed, and feeling out of touch with the systems I was building. They also degraded quality too much. This is way better. I’m not ready to describe in detail. It’s still evolving a bit. But I’ll give you a high level here. I call this the Night Shift workflow.

I've been tracking unique properties across Italy for clients looking at boutique hospitality. There's a clear trend happening at the moment, travellers are moving away from the overcrowded hotspots and looking for authentic, under the radar experiences. Fewer rooms, unique settings, real character. Then this one dropped in price. A neo-medieval villa in Menconico, deep in the Apennine foothills of Lombardy, about 1h30m south of Milan. It looks like a small stone castle watching over the valley below. Asking price: €190k (down from €215k). 166 m² of living space across two floors, a 112 m² tavern in the basement, a garage, and 37,000 m² of private land - over 9 acres with a tennis court and woodland. It needs a full renovation, but you'll end up having a restored Gothic villa on 9 acres in the Italian mountains. Not a bad deal. What would you build here?

This week is already so hot. 🔥 Massive release from @DecartAI : Lucy 2.0 a World Editing Model running at 1080p, 30FPS in realtime. This is truly exciting, the era of real-time generative reality is here. We are moving from watching AI video to living inside AI video. A breakthrough model capable of transforming the visual world in real-time. Moving beyond offline rendering, Lucy 2.0 delivers high-fidelity 1080p video generation with near-zero latency. Lucy 2.0 literally "redraws" the entire world pixel-by-pixel, while you are watching it. e.g. If you want to be an anime character, it doesn't just put a mask on you. It turns your skin into anime skin, your hair into anime hair, and the lighting in your room into anime lighting. Lucy 2.0 is also trained to stop the generated video from slowly falling apart over time, so the same stream can run much longer without faces and details drifting. So why is this a "Massive Deal"? Traditional AI video-generation model takes a prompt, you wait 10–20 minutes, and the computer "bakes" a video for you. You couldn't touch it or change it while it was happening. But Lucy 2.0 works like a mirror. It happens in real-time (30 frames per second). There is no waiting. You move your hand, the AI character moves its hand instantly. The craziest part isn't the visuals; it's the physics. Usually, AI hallucinations are glitchy—hands merge into faces, walls melt. Lucy 2.0 understands how the world works without being told. It knows that if you take off a helmet, there is hair underneath. It knows that if you splash water, droplets fly. It learned "physics" just by watching millions of videos. The physical behavior you see emerges from learned visual dynamics, not from engineered geometry or explicit physics engines. Their official technical report explicitly states that the model does not use traditional 3D engines, depth maps, or wireframes. It is a "pure diffusion model."

Good discussion with CEOs today in Davos. Europe has all the assets it needs to attract investment. From capital to innovation. We’re working on mobilising them fully. Soon, we’ll put forward a single set of rules for companies to scale and grow across Europe - EU Inc. Because we need European champions for a global market. We are also working on a large-scale, deep and liquid capital market that attracts a wide range of investors. An interconnected and affordable energy market. And we’re shifting our focus to the high value sectors - from AI to defence. My message is: Europe is the right place to invest.
